Mohammad Staffoo Davis - who is he?

There is a guy claiming he was former Muhammad Ali's sparring partner and was a former heavyweight in the 70's and have fought on Ali's undercards. Anybody know if this guy even existed? A simple google could find out a thing or two, but so far zero results. One said he is a white guy, was called the great white hope as well. He fought under the name Mohammad Staffoo Davis. Is boxrec accurate and how come I can't find any info. on this guy?
