Re: HAYE-VALUEV sky ppv, A GOOD THING?
i never would PPV at anytime from the night Frank Bruno challenged for the title i was paying something like £28 a month then, i cancelled sky immediately and for sky to ask for another PPV I TOLD THEM TO SHOVE IT.Lots of streams going about now

Re: HAYE-VALUEV sky ppv, A GOOD THING?
not sure if i'll buy haye-valuev or not.
was gonna get the khan ppv and changed me mind.
i'll probably get the floyd-marquez ppv.
american start times are better for ppv cos u usually get a british and american card.

Sky can go f**k themselves. If I didn't already pay them £40 a month I'd happily pay for ppv. They're taking the piss. I'll be streaming. £40 a month should include the one and only decent fight they show.
Plus I was seriously pissed as I sky+ the Khan fight hoping I'd see the undercard but got none of it.

Re: HAYE-VALUEV sky ppv, A GOOD THING?
haye needs to fight in england to see if his popularity is increasing.BIGMARK wrote:i give up with this thread as no one seems to see the point i was trying to make
his career has stalled what with all this klitschko/setanta/back injury stuff.
hopefully sky give it the big boost and the papers give it some coverage.
Re: HAYE-VALUEV sky ppv, A GOOD THING?
Not worth ppv since you can watch it free on german tv.

Re: HAYE-VALUEV sky ppv, A GOOD THING?
Pacquiao-Cotto is NOT going to be on Box Office. Wait and see. It will be on regular Sky Sports at 2am.
Re: HAYE-VALUEV sky ppv, A GOOD THING?
It only seems to be British fighters who they show on PPV.
Floyd v Oscar
Floyd v Baldomir
Floyd v Gatti
Oscar v Mayorga
Hopkins v Taylor I & II
Hopkins v Tarver
Pacquiao v Morales I & II
Were all regular Sky Sports shows, Oscar v Pacquiao was only PPV because Khan was fighting on the same night so they merged the two together.

Re: HAYE-VALUEV sky ppv, A GOOD THING?
No it isn't a good thing, because it will just result in even more ppv fights, and we've already seen they are happy to peddle very carefully matched fights as pvp events (khan)
Why would anyone say that kinda thing is good for British boxing - It just makes the experience even more costly for the punter.

Re: HAYE-VALUEV sky ppv, A GOOD THING?
Well it didn't really work with the last Khan fight did it - And the hype for that fight from Sky was very good.
Boxers have to capture the public's imagination, it's hard for them to do that tucked away on a ppv event.
Imagine Haye/Valuev on the bbc, prime time Saturday night - You'd be looking at millions of viewers (not a measly 30k buy ups)
It's obvious which is better for British Boxing.

Re: HAYE-VALUEV sky ppv, A GOOD THING?
No, it isn't. Sky aren't doing consecutive PPVs (Haye/Valuev and Cotto/Pac).lirva wrote:Eraserhead wrote:Pacquiao-Cotto is NOT going to be on Box Office. Wait and see. It will be on regular Sky Sports at 2am.

Haye-Valuev is on Box Office, but Cotto-Pacquiao is not. Just watch.
Re: HAYE-VALUEV sky ppv, A GOOD THING?
Paying twice can never be good thing. Fukk u Murdock!!!
Re: HAYE-VALUEV sky ppv, A GOOD THING?
Interesting to see the coverage Haye will get from this. I know it's not the Monte Barrett fight but i complained to Sly Sports when they failed to even mention that fight, needless to say the pudenda never replied. Won't fail to mention this one will ya !!!
Re: HAYE-VALUEV sky ppv, A GOOD THING?
thing is, if we DONT pay, then viewing figures are low. Advertisers see this and dont want to pay to advertise, which means shows cannot get back onto free TV...twenty six wrote:Appreciate what you're saying James but how could there possibly be enough revenue raised to make this fight happen without PPV ?
You have the ultimate say as have the masses.
Don't pay, don't switch on.
Re: HAYE-VALUEV sky ppv, A GOOD THING?
I think what people are forgetting is that Britain isn't a ppv market like America. The reason we've always had so few ppv's is because people simply don't buy them over here.
What's happened is with the success Hatton has had, Sky and the promoters are trying their luck with other fighters. It's just not going to work though. Haye/Valuev will sink like the titanic, mark my words. Look at Khan's numbers and he's a much bigger name than Haye.
To answer the original question, no, it's not a good idea for this fight to be on ppv.

No, live on Sky Sports, I remember it well because I was stunned that it wasn't on PPV.winkveron wrote:Wasn't Mayweather - DLH also PPV?banjo wrote:It only seems to be British fighters who they show on PPV.

neither good or bad, but look at how Booth tried to persuade the BBC to bid for the fight
"its a disgrace, i am a licence payer too, etc"
