Haye's inactivity

Post by winkveron »

Should Haye have a warm up fight before Valuev? Maybe an eight rounder? He did say initially after his back trouble he'd be fit to fight about now. If he doesn't it'll be a year since he fought Valuev. He shouldn't be going into a world title fight at a higher weight after a years absence in my opinion.

If so, who and when would be an ideal candidate to face him?

Haye is one of my favourite fighters but his inactivity is one thing I dislike. 22 fights and he is 28. Going back to the Bonin fight, he has only fought 15 rounds in 3 years. That is poor!

I don't like his inactivity either, but there's no pointing in fighting someone else - just concentrate on the Valuev fight.

It's really poor. It's great that he's going after challenges, but when he's spending so long away from the ring he's getting rusty and we're not being entertained by him. He could have been building up his name.

if he fought now it would have to be a completly riskless nobody , but then whats the point if it only lasts a round , any one capable of giving him a work out would be too risky , what if he got a bad cut for example or was sparked out , where would that leave him

He'll get more by training for Valuev and getting decent sparring than blowing out some nobody in a round. Pointless exercise. Really like his chances in this one. Valuev's very ordinary and he had a life and death with an ancient Holyfield who used movement to frustrate him.
