So who do people think Barker should fight next if this is all correct? Not too much about domestically for him without dropping down a level, Murray probably isn't ready, Smith has moved up, Elcock lost to Macklin and he's already beaten McDermott and Bendall. Wouldn't mind Quigley dropping down to middle and that fight happening although I know this isn't likely.

How about someone like Gevor who beat Asikainen? How good is Geale? That would be a top class commonwealth title fight. Or is Barker in no way ready for guys like this and my head is in the clouds?

Think they may look to a past it name, like Jantuah who has been linked in the past.

and I love the Mick and Frank coalition idea. That would make a great sitcom. They could share a bed like Ernie and Eric???

i'd say gevor is a bit dangerous given that he nearly beat sturm (some would say he did). gevor will surely be looking for a 3rd world title shot.

i think geale is very promising. he did very well vs a bigger man, mundine, in a superb fight. he puts on good, varied pressure, a very technically aware fighter even if he doesn't look particularly slick, can keep a good pace for 12 rds though he's been down a few times. not sure if geale would want a commonwealth title. i think geale will be looking to the world scene. he really raised himself in defeat to the much more experienced mundine.

Presuming the fight will now be for the vacant British title and would think Matthew Thirwall would be a big favourite to take the job seeing how they both have the same promoter.

However, now that John Duddy has been beaten and his market value has gone down in the US, I'm really hoping Hennessy offers the job to Duddy. Duddy has probably blown his chances of fighting for a world title when he lost his unbeaten record. So why not come back to the UK and fight for the Commonwealth and British titles? After all he is from Northern Ireland so he would qualify for both belts. Barker v Duddy anyone?

it is a shame that barker is willing but can't get anyone to fight him. it's understandable that everyone has their own career path, but a shame that the direct fights that matter slip by.

If Macklin gives up the British rather than face Barker, then subject to the BBBofC approval, Thirlwall could get a crack. Easy fight to make for Hennessy.


As for Hennessy and Warren working with each other, they already are, in as much their fighters are facing each other. Elcock-Macklin, Barker-McDermott and McIntosh-Cleverly. Hennessy having ITV coverage is clearly making these fights viable.

lee dos qualify because he was born in london , duddy is dropping down to light middle , i cant see either of these fighting barker tbh high risk low reward
