I suppose so, but Cotto's got heart and a very good chin at 147lbs.

Check the Clottey fight out - he was hit clean plenty of times. His major scares have been down at 140lbs. I mean, even Malignaggi buzzed him, right?

Cotto was there to be taken, by Clottey. For the Ghanaian to coast through the last 2 rounds with such indifference was criminal. And yeah, he was play-acting to get Cotto docked, always a bad sign in a 'warrior'.

Pac will be connecting, and often. Fascinating fight and better than recent so-called 'super-fights'.

More to do with tiredness, lack of one eye and losing so much blood, rather than having a bad chin though.

Cotto brings a hell of a lot more punching ability to the table that anyone Pacquiao has ever fought. That makes things interesting for me.

Too fast, both footwork and handspeed, Cotto likes to work at his own pace and pac wont lety that happen.

Cotto is not the same fighter who fought mosely imo.
Cotto had a terrible fight pouring blood into his eye most of the fight, and he was in against a very big strong welterweight with a very good chin. Clottey is a beast, but without the cut, I think Cotto would have won it fairly straightforwardly on boxing ability.

Cotto couldn't see the right hand coming for most of the fight which was a major handicap.

A clash of heads can change the complection of fight, as it did in this case.

And it's not at 147. As I said before I really think having to lose those extra two pounds could hurt Cotto. One thing I was told in the build up was that it was the Pacquiao team who were putting out the rumours about fighting Mosley to force Cotto into coming down in weight.

Cotto weighed 146lbs for Clottey. I'm certain 1lb won't make too much difference.

He wasn't chinny at 146lbs, I can't see him being chinny at 145lbs.

Cotto wins by early KO, IMO.

:box:

But if Pacquiao does win, and via KO then he will be the only fighter ever who I have predicted three losses via KO for and proved me wrong everytime.

That for me, will see him be the best fighter I have ever seen.

I think Cotto is hit way to much, his defense is one of the weakest when compared against the other leading lights in the boxing game.

He marks up in an instant, I don't think there is that much left in him at this level - I think the fight will be competitive, but gradually Cotto will tire, and be stopped on his feet or something similar.

I wouldn't be surprised if Cotto is leading on the cards at the time though.

Agreed, unfortunately. Cotto was really good pre-Margarito. He's not been the same since that fight. I think Pacquiao could finish him off as a top fighter. :(
Pacquiao may indeed beat Cotto, but finish him so Cotto is no longer a top-level fighter? I highly doubt it!

Pacquiao is a roll after victories over De La Hoya & Hatton, even more-so by the manner of those victories! He may well emerge victorious over Cotto, but by no means, will the victory be as emphatic as those against the names stated above!

With Mannys current fame he can pick just about any fight he wants. Roach is no mug and clearly sees Manny can do a number on Cotto. Probably in the foot speed department, where he spins cotto and his him with hard to see combos.

Cottos tough but I can't see him taking abuse all night and lasting. He does have the power to hurt Pac Man though especially to the body.

Pacquio ko anytime after 9.

C'mon, Autobarn. You can't really believe Cotto injured Clottey with that 'push' to the floor, and thus, that incident had an irreparable impact on Clottey's chances in that fight? If so, then for someone who usually talks sense, that's poor.

Clottey's balance was messed up after that, he is a hard luck "victim" fighter who lets distractions let him down, and he couldn't seem to set his feet properly to throw more than one right hand at a time. If he'd been able to sit down on his rights, Cotto would have been out of there.

Granted, Cotto had hard luck with that head clash also so they were even.

I had Clottey winning. When something goes badly wrong like the cut, Cotto dopesn't have the stamina. He has the skills, he has the offensive weapons, but he is a 6 round legend.

No offence but I think that's bobbins. Clottey was 'hurt' for about 30 seconds then got back to what he was doing perfectly well. He was trying to con the referee all night. And like someone said, for a warrior that's poor. I think he did it bad in the 12th round too.

yes he is a classic victim. if something goes wrong he will fade out and let everyone know about it. rather than buckling down and winning the rounds. no arguments with that, re clottey.

cotto just isn't this pound for pound operator he is advertised as. he is very polished but he looks like a flu victim after every fight.

So, you're saying that 'push' and 'injury' cost him the fight? Funny that, as he fought decent after that - it was only the fact that he lost three out of the last four rounds that lost him the fight. He took his foot off the gas. Cotto was there for the taking.

i am, i think he will be too big and too good. i mean, theres always a chance cotto is shot, but he looked to have plenty left to me against clottey. to pull off the victory in that fight showed not just tremendous heart, but a good boxing brain.

if cotto hits pacman flush, its going to hurt him. cotto isnt the biggest banger at 147 but he is a spiteful puncher especially to the body.
