Really the only Brit promoter that can work at World level and is trust worthy is Mick Hennessy. He does care for his fighters and does pay and treat them well. I think Hennessy has the pull now to make the big fights happen.

Hennessy is good but I still can't forget the way he slung David Walker in with the Russian just to make a statement to TV execs. Disgraceful, but to his credit he did learn from it, although Walker was finished because of it and probably has the longer lasting damage.

As for 'Fooking fighters' - dangerous statement without any knowledge. Why is it the promoter who gets accused of this and never the fighter?

Funny how fighters alway's leave Promoters once they are Multi-Millionaires and never when they still need investment.

As for fooking people - Ask Billy Graham why he's taking Hatton to Court? Yes Ricky Hatton the messiah like figure who can do no wrong!

What have Dennis Hobson, allegedly, Billy Graham, Art Pellullo, Top Rank and Frank Maloney got in common? Answers on a postcard! rumour has it Golden Boy are new members to the line up too.

Cuckoo knows FA about what he is talking about.

Ask Eubank and Benn and just about every snooker player about Barry Hearn. Hearns fooked more people than Jordan.

Seems that your name is right , but not anything else !!!

How can you say I do not care for my lads ???Look at their records and tell me another manager who has a stable of fighters with as many wins over losses . They are moved onto TV with Frank Maloney when good enougth or selling tickets , cannot see a problem with that - I carry on approving the matches and again the lads mainly win so they are not over matched. Eventually due to natural progression they have 50-50 fights but that is the industry we are in .

If you do reply , please come on with your real name as it seems to me a hidden agenda in your post.

steve wood, nicest fella in boxing nad has done wonders for my best mate who 18 months ago couldnt even get a fight and is now british champ, frank maloney is trustworthy in all the dealings ive seen him have anyway!

I doubt Steve Davis would agree with you there!

The biggest draw in Snooker of all time, Alex Higgins, begged, yes begged, Hearn to manage and promote him. Hearn turned him down every time.

Ive got no idea about Hatton, though I think Warren did a great job with him. But I am surprised at what you say abouy Hearn.

Steve woods is a pure Gent and cares very much about his lads,Steve not after any glory he loves the sport,wish there was a few more like him ,and he works very well with Frank Maloney who is trust worthy :box: :box: :box:

He is a good promoter but his TV channel jumping sucks! :evil: His champs don't fizz out too early with daft matchmaking and he pays them well though.

Hennessey is talk at times, talks big but doesn't deliver. Remember he had that deal with Golden boy, seems like a waste of time.

Hayemaker's a bunch of amateur's acting big way too soon, they can't keep their prospects active and Haye should be focusing on his own career not promoting at the same time. Is keeping nearly all of them under Booth a good idea too? He hasn't seemed to get Haye to use much skill, just relied on Haye sparking them and relying on athleticism even though his stamina could still be suspect.

Banter is one thing - but to start slagging someone like Steve Wood is truly barking mad - however what I will say and I have stated to Steve myself in person - I think he is barking mad too for not going on his own - bloody good bloke, good business head on him and knows how to treat his fighters properly and to add to all that knows the boxing business inside and out.

Been banging on about Wood for years and years :TU:
It would be bloody good if he did go on his own - as poor Mr Maloney would be sunk without trace without Woods fighters!!! :box: :box:

complete crap, it was a massive gamble and walker only had a punchers chance, but kamarzin was streets ahead in quality, so robert mcracken threw the towel in before walker took anything too punishing.

you need to stop being biased and watch the fights my friend !!!

There has been some recent fights concerning SN fighters who went into their world title fights without a f*cking chance - didn't see you stating anything then!!

Pavilk v Lockett

You could also add to that

Maccarinelli v Haye

Anymore SN mismatches we could name ??

What about all of the sh*t fights Calzaghe was in??

Hennessy knew that Davey Walker had a punchers chance in that fight - the fight was offered to Hennessy and to be able to promote a European Title fight so early on in his promotional career was also a consideration worth thinking about - but also at the time Walker was given days to think about the fight and whether he wanted it or not - in addition a number of conversations took place between Walker and McCracken and it was decided the opportunity was too good to turn down and it was also a reasonably high profile event for the BBC.

I suspect you will either not answer at all - or you will come out with your usual b*llocks to evade the questions contained within my post!!!

I like him I think he is a very good promoter I think he could move some of his fighters faster in particularly John Murray he is ready for World Level and should of moved on to Euro level by now I also like Hayemaker they seem to take risks and they treat there fighters well without moddly coddling them

Problem is - I think Murray will move on - I will be surprised if he doesn't.

And Hayemaker need to get on with things - as hard as it is - they need to put on a number of non TV fights!!!

That David Walker fight was diabolical matchmaking

What is this punchers chance I keep hearing about. He had a punchers chance in so far as he has two hands and can throw a punch, but his ko record was 50% against modest - to say the least - opposition

The Gary Lockett, Takaloo and Michael Jenning fights were due to bollocks WBO ratings and their oppornets wanting keep busy fights. At least the fights got made. Complete mismatches but then we didnt have to suffer the indignity of week long promotion in The Sun that actually might have had some casuals thinking that Walker was a legit chance of winning. They were thrown to the wolves to fatten their pockets and expereince big fight atmosphere.

And Enzo v Haye in hinsight looks a mismatch but at the time that looked like excellent matchmaking and I think if I pull up the old forum polls I bet Haye isnt winning by some crazy distance. Enzo had good wins against Domingez and Braithwaite and it was felt that who landed first wins. Lets not rewrite history

I dont think anyone is directing sympathy towards Dave - it was an opportunity at the time which was sadly not taken - all I am stating is that I feel it wasn't just an opportunity for Davey it was an opportunity that Hennessy was serious about the promotional business and I do not blame him one bit for taking the fight for both Walker and the promotional team.

I'd be surprised if Walker was paid anything like Jennings, Lockett and Maccarinelli were to be fed to the wolves.
It was seriously bad matchmaking, an exciting up and down welterweight who had been having wars at fringe British title level against a large, world class light middle with a good chin and good power. Good on McCracken for not letting it go too far but Walker never had a sniff of a chance.

The SN fighters you mention had all proved themselves far more than Walker who was still fairly new to pro boxing at the time.
