It's Official!! Brook vs Jennings!
The welterweight war that the whole country wants to see is officially on after Kell Brook and Michael Jennings agreed to a mouth-watering British title clash. Rising star Brook will defend his belt against classy former British champion Jennings later this year in a classic War of the Roses match up. The date and venue will be confirmed shortly.
Last week Brook, who has won a Lonsdale belt outright in just nine rounds of completed boxing, identified Jennings as the only man who could challenge his claim to be the best in the country.
And Special K demanded a showdown with a fighter who recently challenged Miguel Cotto for the WBO World Welterweight title in New York.
His wish has now been granted, and with the fight on, both men are promising an all action thriller.
"I could have moved on to European or even world level, but I've got unfinished business at home and I need to beat Jennings to be number one," said Sheffield's unbeaten Brook.
"Having fought Cotto, he is known in the States and if I do a job on him I can make a big statement about my abilities at world level.
"I've taken out each of my last three opponents in the first three rounds, and I can do something similar against Jennings. He's a slow starter and I know I can get him out of there quickly."
But Jennings, who has only lost two of his 37 fights, says he is confident of victory.
"Brook's a good kid and he's done well to win a Lonsdale belt outright," said the Lancastrian.
"But let's be honest, who has he really fought? It's not until now that he's met someone who can stand up to him, and believe me I will do.
"People asked me if I was going to retire after the Cotto fight, but the thought never crossed my mind.
"I want title fights and I'm delighted that I've got Brook, because this is an opportunity for me to get back into the big time.
"Everyone is talking about him as the future of British boxing, but I'll take him to school."
Warren added: "Both boxers have said they want this fight, and I'm delighted that they have agreed to it. I know that it's going to be a classic."

Re: It's Official!! Brook vs Jennings!
Very good match up fighter on his way to World level vs a fighter on his way back from world level a crossroads fight but im fancing Brook by KO
Re: It's Official!! Brook vs Jennings!
Jennings lasted longer against Cotto than I taught he would and I think he will take Brook the distance but lose
Re: It's Official!! Brook vs Jennings!
Fantastic!!!! Cant wait for this fight.
GO KELL!
Re: It's Official!! Brook vs Jennings!
This is a fantastic match-up - credit where it's due to Frank for making this one - it would have been easiest thing in world to take Kell down a different, easier path
Re: It's Official!! Brook vs Jennings!
Mikey is a VERY classy boxer if Brook can take him out he's ready to be anointed as the next best chance for a British world champ.
Re: It's Official!! Brook vs Jennings!
It was brook that demanded this fight he was offered a european title shot apparently but he said he wanted to knock jennings out to show he is best in gb then win the european titledanfoster wrote:This is a fantastic match-up - credit where it's due to Frank for making this one - it would have been easiest thing in world to take Kell down a different, easier path

Well done to Kell Brook. I always think a fighter should clean up at domestic level before moving on to European/World level rather than avoiding the issue. Not mentioning any names. So well done to Kell. Should be a great fight!

good on him,i think our current crop of british talent have a great attitude.I would say brook and nathan cleverley have oustanding chances to win a legit world title.
jennings has found his level but far from shot, should be a great fight with brook pulling out a late stoppage

Fair play to Brook, he has a refreshing attitude, but I fancy Jennings to outpoint him.
If Brook does win I agree he could go all the way, but I don't think he'll win this one, I think Jennings has a couple of great performances left in him...

Re: It's Official!! Brook vs Jennings!
Brook is alot special, a comfortable KO win for him here IMO
Re: It's Official!! Brook vs Jennings!
agreed, with the second part at leastbrian13 wrote:Jennings lasted longer against Cotto than I taught he would and I think he will take Brook the distance but lose
Re: It's Official!! Brook vs Jennings!
See Jennings taking Brook 6 rounds or so, but boxing negatively without really taking any chances. Kell will stop him as soon as Jennings takes a chance.
Re: It's Official!! Brook vs Jennings!
IMO Brook is way over-rated and Jennings is a good Euro Class fighter. If and its a big IF Brook beats Jennings easily then I will be convinced. I did hear on the grapevine Matthew Hall gave Brook a pasting in sparring but I dont no how reliable my source was.
Re: It's Official!! Brook vs Jennings!
apparantly jennings sparred with brook aswell and ended up holding back with him
Re: It's Official!! Brook vs Jennings!
..oh yes and how is brook overated?most people on the domestic scene dodge him..with good reason!!!!!!!!!!!!! he knocks them all out..and if anything he is underated for the lack of tv coverage..if any1 is overated it is the olympians..they are more well known then brook already! if amir kahn can become world champion then brook has a good shotteddy007 wrote:IMO Brook is way over-rated and Jennings is a good Euro Class fighter. very true Gemmell.
Re: It's Official!! Brook vs Jennings!
Gemmel get your nob out of Brooks arse for a minute and read my post, I said IMO, which means in my opinion he is over-rated but if he beats Jennings convincingly then I would believe he is the real deal. You got anything to add about Hall smashing Brook in sparring?

I agree, if Brook can stop Jennings its a cracking result. Jennings has already beaten the current european champ convincingly, almost stopped him. One thing that does worry me about Brook is that while he obviously has a bit of a dig, is quite orthodox for an Ingle fighter and has a nice jab, he tends to stick his chin up in the ear when he punches at times........
