Hiriwa te Rangi
Re: Hiriwa te Rangi
End of the day boxing needs guys like Te Rangi, Talemaira and Leuii all 3 willing to step in at a moments notice. The sport wouldnt go ahead witout them. Guys like Edwards would get disinterestd if fights were being cancelled every 2nd fight yes it was a mismatch although to the novice looked even on paper at least. As a promoter I know guys like the above mentioned are much appreciated the save shows every week around the world! And probably save alot of careers with guys staying in the sport and not leaving it through inactivity etc. Im not saying beat downs and mismatches need to happen and guys like Te Rangi should be monitored so long as the pass PROPER medicals who are we to tell them they cannot fight no more?

Mate you make some good points there, but still think guys that can't string a win........N2 Shape wrote:End of the day boxing needs guys like Te Rangi, Talemaira and Leuii all 3 willing to step in at a moments notice. Re: Hiriwa te Rangi
how much would he get paid for to fight? im curious to know the price for humiliation and possible health injuries
Re: Hiriwa te Rangi
'Tee-man' is an icon in NZ fight sport-- especially in K1 and markets himself very well. He's no stud muffin in boxing and looks/makes for an intense-tough character. Outside the ring the nicest guy who can make anyone laugh. He is another one of them fighters who make their living via human curiosity. His record is rubbish but at nearly 50 he is still one of those guys who stands out albeit not for his skilled boxing.... (Hiriwa AKA 'The Hilbilly'- 'Tee-man' - 'Tee Rex') we even called him the 'senior citizen' of NZ fight sport. He had a laugh at it and even suggested that he might buy his own retirement home....LOL

yep thats Te Rangi an awesome guy thats too old to fight. Like Soundkamp said 'whats the price on possible health injuries'.Rogue wrote:'Tee-man' is an icon in NZ fight sport-- especially in K1 and markets himself very well. He's lost all fights and some of them by devastating KO's it cant go on, I'd be pissed to see him fight again and lose by KO.

Re: Hiriwa te Rangi
all of you's above are correct
Re: Hiriwa te Rangi
Whats the price of freedom? Freedom to make your own choices in life? Lets faces it as a former rugby player myself (looking to make a comeback) guys like Ritchie McCaw, George Smith, basically al forwards andprobably backs to in Rugby Union hel all players in both League and Union take head knocks all the time. I know myself there have been games Ive played in where ive taken 2/3 head knocks a game and continued playing...........some bad enough i pick myself off the ground thinking "what happend there??" these guys are playing EVERY weekend for at least half a year not to mention the rest of the injuries they picks up. YES boxing you will take more knocks to the head its only natural but should we now start banning Union/League players and start telling them sorry mate you have had a few concussions you can NEVER play again?? Leon MacDonald had 3 concussions in one season...............hes still playing.
I mean lets not cross the road anymore we might be hit by a car! In fact im never swimming again i may get eaten by a shark! Lets just water down sports completly so theres never any contact!
I say AGAIN so long as these guys can pass PROPER medicals they should be alowed to fight should they wish to. The biggest issue lays with the sanction bodies and promoters ensuring guys get the proper medicals and medical advice. But at the end of the day we all strive to live in a free world where we can make our own choices in life.................

Re: Hiriwa te Rangi
Coming from the horses mouth..I thank all you guys for the kind words and whatever words you say..I just get on and do the best I can, and as you wouldve all noticed as this is what this forum is about, Ive lost all my fights boxing fights.
Anyway..For yous that know me , Im a fighter in and out. Ive stepped right out of my comfort zone and doing what I do best, as in boxing Im still trying to work it out.
First of all, Im much fitter now than what I have been before, I still feel in excellent shape as always and my head is still clear as and as long as Im still doing all that Im going to fight the best there is.
Ive had 2 wins so far out of 3 fights this year, and yep you guessed it, I lost the boxing but I KOed K1 fighter Jason Reti and beat Leamy Tato MMA for the nz title. Last year was the same I won 6 of my 9 fights all MMA and kickboxing and it lost the boxing.
I took the shane cameron fight on 6 days..6 days notice and I was the FIRST person to cut him up and the FIRST person to take him the distance. I was fighting in the K1 ANZACS that night when they asked me.
As for the boxing.. Boxing is a sport I cross train in BUT I still go out and do my best BUT its the referees that stuff the sport up. If you know me I can stand there and take it and give it back too, and Im still know what Im doing..Kickboxing and mma you can do that..The thing Im trying to adjust to is, in boxing you cant do it..ITS CORUPT..Ive lost all my fights by stupid things like that.
You go to an amateur fight night and its worse..They have all the headgear etc and if they get hit theres an 8 count going on. People come to watch a good fight not watch 2 fighters who cant fight because they keep getting stopped for an 8 count.
Lance Revill is the best and the only best referee that Ive had, and that was for the first Cameron fight. Since then the referees have been HOPELESS. Im in there to fight and I will fight the BEST I can BUT if the referees are going to stop the fight for something that doesnt even phase me is a joke. I chucked the boxing away 3 fights ago.
The thing I always come back for, its not the $$$, its not to just do what I have to, its because Im still enjoying what Im doing, I train hard to my best abilitites. Its like sex. Sex and fighting is the same. As long as you enjoy it, have fun with it, Im going to be doing it for a while..Lol.
And yes Im still looking for my first win in this. Kim Heta fight, it was my cornerman who threw the towel. As for the TKOs. Thats another story. Stupid thats why. But like I say, Im cross training in boxing to get in shape for kickboxing and mma.
Few years back a fight would come once every 4-6 months.. Then when I took up boxing it went down to 2-3 months and now with me in the mma its down to 1-2 months.. Imagine not having sex for that long..Man that be hard..
I hear I maybe fighting Mark de mori.. Honestly I would love too.. and yes Im still after my first win. Ive come close a few times but just get let down near the end by the refs.
Im a fighter in and out. If I feel good, the bodies still in good shape, and Im still training as hard as I can and still beating the young guns..Im still going to be fighting. Like sex..Im still going to be doing that for a while. You go to the Masters Games and people of all ages are still doing what they love. I love fighting and sex..Lol
Oh forgot.. Im the teeman.. But THANKS GUYS for your awesome encouragement..
Keep an eye out.. Coming soon..

Re: Hiriwa te Rangi
Hirawa, Good to read your reply. I don't think anyone doubts your courage or toughness. It's just that nobody wants to see boxers suffer any permanent injuries or worse. Lack of experience and overmatching can be a dangerous combination. Fighters have to trust the ref and their cornermen to make the right decisions.
Don't be too tough on amateur boxing , it's the nursery for the pro's. Most if not all the top fighters on the world scene in recent decades have had distinguished amateur careers.
ps. It was a great effort for you to go the distance with Cameron on your debut. [ won't mention the rematch ]

Hiriwa, mark de mori here, we are not fighting not sure where you got that idea, you were always a nice guy when i fought in NZ keep in touch
Re: Hiriwa te Rangi
Fair enough that I do not get many people agreeing with me, everybody is entitled to his/her opinion.
I just love a sport I had a small involvement in and hate seeing stories about some overmatched fighter being killed or badly injured and people screaming for it to be banned. I do not think we should give our enemies ammunition.

Re: Hiriwa te Rangi
Hey thanks guys..
NZ SHAPE..Thank you thank you so much and I agree..Everyone has an opinion and we as athletes dont care about peoples opinions. If we get caught up with being professional about it we should find another sport.
We are in the public eye all the time, and what comes with that we are going to get the backlash of it. Look at what jimmy cowan went through, jonah, michael jackson..RIP..We are all in the spotlight.
Im here for the sport, and what comes with that is everyone behind the scenes thats got us to where we are because of their support, people dont see them in action. Im not talking about ther trainers etc but Im talking about what the girlfriends, wives, boyfriends..
eeek.. go through. They see us through all the pain, all the emotions, all the not so good and happy days. Everyone else sees us when we step in the ring and fight.
Im just their to do the best I can like I have been. I strive for the best in anything I do, and everyone else should too. I have a saying.." Why sit on the sidelines when you can be the one theyre watching"..Imagne that..meaning why go watch the ABs when you can be the one theyre watching. Why go watch anything when you can be the one theyre coming to watch.
And to fight Weliver..That could be easily done. Ive thought about the same too.
RAW PRAWN..Thank you and I agree with you that the amateurs are a nursery for the Pros.
FOXDOG..Are you too old to have sex.. When you are, give me a yell and I'll finish fighting when you do. But thanks for being concerned.
When I first started training, I use to hate getting hit. I nearly gave up a few times because I didnt like getting punched in the nose. I used to hate it so much. Fast forward the clock later and fights with ray sefo, mitch ohello getting hit now doesnt bother me. I just get annoyed and frustrated for getting hit in the first place.
But in any contact sport we are going to get hit, be it rugby, league, netball now sometimes and in the fight game. We train hard, we condition ourselves and we go out to fight the best we can. If we win we win, if we lose we lose. I go out to win evertime and do my best. Its sad that every sport or game there has to be a winner and a loser. Everybody hates to lose and if we lose its how we pick ourselves up from that. I guess Im still picking myself up. But Thank you
And Mark..Hi brother.. Hows the team doing in oz.I just heard I was fighting you on here. I just thought AWESOME..I dont think so tho..Cos you have bigger muscles and what comes with bigger muscles is a MASSIVE punch..
DD . No I hope everything is going to plan for you. Tell Roger and the boys I said HELLO.
Well thanks again guys.. I let yous all discuss whatever you guys..and girls..Ooops! I mean ladies.. discuss on here. It was a pleasure to hop on here and say hello to everyone. It took me ages to figure out how to get on here. I hope its much quicker to get off..
DD
Thanks and ALL the best for the rest of 09..
Oh forgot Rogue Boa.. Helloooooo my far away brother.. Thank you thank you so much for your awesome support over the years.. But I still wanna BASH you for giving me them whatever names you come up with..
DD ..
See yous all and have fun on here..
Cheers Teeman
