But weren't people saying that he was looking better than ever 2 fights ago against Malignaggi? This forum was buzzing after that fight for weeks and people were saying Hatton was better than ever.
In my opinion he would NEVER have been competitive with pacman anyway. He was too slow and used the same idiotic tactics he always would have used and got absolutely mauled. This would always have happened imo. It's a knee-jerk reaction to now say he is completely shot when the same people were saying he was looking awesome a few months ago against Malignaggi.
He just isn't good enough to be near competitive with the likes of Pacman and never was.
I thought you were banned? Hatton is nowhere near what he was 4yrs ago, but shot, i'm not so sure.

No he isn't shot, the two men who beat him are better fighters.

I actually agree with BOTH "lirva" and "teddy007". On the one hand, it's not that Hatton is all of a sudden shot, but (politely put) when you fight like he fights, your not going to have a 20 year record. This was ALWAYS going to happen and happen in this exact manner (almost identicaly to Gatti's last fights). On the other hand, he would never have beaten either mayweather or Pac at any point in his career. On both nights he was beaten by much better boxers.
This hasn't happened overnight. He should pack up and be very proud of what he has achieved from what he had.

Re: Is Hatton really shot?
Pac man is a special fighter, who carries his speed and strength up through the weights. Ricky's mistake was not really recognising that and trying to batter him into submission.
Result, brutal 1 punch KO.
I dont think he is finished though, still a strong, world class fighter.

Re: Is Hatton really shot?
Yes. He can no longer take a quality shot. Whilst, I think Manny P and Floyd M jnr would have got top side of him, I do think that the current version of Hatton is nothing like the one that mauled Kostya Tsyzu, many moons ago. I would not like to see him box again.
Re: Is Hatton really shot?
his punch resistence is gone. V's Kostya he took some good shots and kept coming forward. V Manny he was knocked down 3 times, no punch resistence whatsoever, it wasnt just a one punch wonder. He even looked shakey v Lazcano even when caught semi-flush. I think the way he fights has a short shelf life and unfortunately he cant take a punch anymore.

He was never as good as made out. PPV and publicity for his fights made him look that way, he was average world class.

hes not shot but his punch resistance has gone down abit
Re: Is Hatton really shot?
Urango, Collazo and Malignaggi were not over the hill, so don't make his championship reign seem more cynical than it was.danieljenkins wrote:he was nothing more than a decent world champ in my eyes ! fought old over the hill fighters steped up twice and got knocked out twice facts speak for themself hes never been good enough to mix it with the best

I thought he was at the time but looking back Pacquiao and Mayweather are the best 2 fighters out there he would of lost those fights in his prime Malignaggi was his best performance in ages but I think his punch resistance has gone down a bit.
He still beats Witter not sure about Khan however

i wish i was "decent world class"
Re: Is Hatton really shot?
there not great fighters though, thy may no be over the hill but they were all chosen because they shouldnt of given ricky any problems (collazo didnt follow the rules)Horse wrote:Urango, Collazo and Malignaggi were not over the hill, so don't make his championship reign seem more cynical than it was.danieljenkins wrote:he was nothing more than a decent world champ in my eyes ! fought old over the hill fighters steped up twice and got knocked out twice facts speak for themself hes never been good enough to mix it with the best
if he gets in the HoF its through popularity not achievement
Re: Is Hatton really shot?
How many champions take on better opposition than Hatton did?Adamj1987 wrote:there not great fighters though, thy may no be over the hill but they were all chosen because they shouldnt of given ricky any problems (collazo didnt follow the rules)
Re: Is Hatton really shot?
I said it at the time and I still believe it now. The win over Malignaggi was COMPLETELY overrated!

Re: Is Hatton really shot?
agree with that, Malignaggi is nothing. Someone like Paul McCloskey could probably beat him, at this point at least.
It's hard to assess how shot Hatton is, he got ambushed vs Pac, but he is the sort of fighter who can definitely get old overnight. I can't believe I'm actually saying this, but I could see Hatton getting stopped vs Khan based on my suspicions of his punch resistance having gone. There, I've officially gone insane. Or put it this way, I don't know if I would be confident betting on Hatton by KO.

Re: Is Hatton really shot?
Yes, he's shot. I don't care what you say, the Hatton that walked through Kostya Tsyzu's best flush right hands would have given Pacman absolute nightmares, but that Hatton is long gone.
Re: Is Hatton really shot?
I think the Mayweather fight took a lot out of him both physically and mentally. I think we all got carried away with the Malignaggi fight, and ignored the signs of wear and tear shown in the Lazacano outing.
Its always hard to decalare a fighter shot, but I do think he is a long way past his best (05). The more time Ricky takes to decide on whether to return or not is only going to harm his next performance as there will be more weight and rust to shift.

Re: Is Hatton really shot?
Exactly, just basic boxing was used to beat Malignaggi. PM gets some undeserved reputation because of the way he performed against Cotto but we all know he was basically fighting a corpse that night because Cotto was weight drained and not surprisingly moved up in weight after that.winkveron wrote:I said it at the time and I still believe it now.
