tommy seaman watson

Post by superengineer_007 »

I hope somebody can help.
I am after some information about my great grandfather. He was from Byker,Newcastleand boxed around the 20's and 30's. He fought Kid Chocolate in the US. He was a fetherweight and i think he was the british champion and lost to kid chocolate in the world title fight.
His fight stats were, won 111 (25 ko's) - lost 9 - drawn 1 - tot 121.

Any info at all or any ideas where to look would be gratefully received.

Many thanks

Mark,

Try the book 'Byker to Broadway: the fighting life and times of Seaman Tommy Watson' by John Jarrett. Bewick Press ISBN 1 898889 06 9

311 pages, photos, index and a record compiled by Vic Hardwicke.

I have a copy signed by Tom (?) Watson Jnr (what relation would he be to you?)

I don't know if the book is readily available. Maybe Amazon would be a start.

Thanks for your response.

Tom Watson Jnr is my Grandfather, Thomas James Watson.
Due to family differences i do not have contact with that side of my family any more. I am however intrigued about my Great grandfather.

I will try ordering the book from somewhere like waterstone.

Many thanks
