Boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard who won five world titles in five different weight divisions will visit Melbourne on Thursday 27th August for dinner in aid of the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre Appeal and Sydney on Friday 28th August for lunch in aid of The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
With a career spanning twenty years, sports superstar Sugar Ray Leonard is acknowledged as one of the greatest boxers of all time. Dubbed the new Muhammad Ali, he won the gold medal at the 1976 Olympic Games before turning professional in 1977 to set the stage for a collection of the most memorable fights in history. He was named “fighter of the decade” in the 1980’s and along the way defeated some of the finest boxers of the modern era including Roberto Duran, Thomas Hearns and Marvin Hagler - a fight which is considered one of the greatest professional boxing matches of all time.
At both functions, ‘A Little Bit of Sugar with Sugar Ray Leonard’, he will deliver a speech and take part in an extensive question and answer session with the audience.
The Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre Appeal are creating a specially designed cancer centre in Australia that integrates the latest in medical treatment and cancer research, with the best of wellness care. The Children’s Hospital at Westmead is in urgent need of special equipment and services which come at an enormous cost and every dollar contributed by the community helps the Hospital to achieve its goals.
Tickets for the Sydney and Melbourne events are $300 for single tickets, $3,000 for tables of ten and $5000 for VIP tables of ten which includes ten tickets to the function, pre-event cocktail meet and greet with Sugar Ray Leonard and a photo with him for each guest.
