He's pointing to his gumsheild, and why won't you answer my initial question?

You appear to be having an argument with yourself, that or bizarrely asking me to account for words that you have solely used, and which I havent...

Yeah, thats right... having just been battered solid for 2mins by a 17stone man, with his legs unsteady and his eyes glazed Sexton dropped his hands and dis-engaged from the action, looking at the ref... standing square-on in front of Rogan and in no apparent position or condition to defend himself - the man was looking for mercy from the referee or Rogan or both.

Look at the video. He's pointing to his gumsheild. Totally disengaging yourself in a fight is a different matter. Just ask Matt Skelton's opponent when he won the Euro belt (his name escapes me), or Kermit Cintron in his first fight with Margarito.

Totally different.

Seeing as you keep editing your posts I will try to keep up with your 'new' insights.

So going off that philosophy, the great Diego Corrales was looking for mercy from Jose Luis Castillo and Tony Weeks when he spat his gumshied out, twice in round ten? The only difference here is that Weeks saw the gumsheild on the floor, whereas Dave Parris didn't.

All Sexton was doing is trying to bide time. It's unethical but it's not forbidden or illegal in this game.

Don't mean to sound like a cock, mate. All I am is just someone who disagrees with you.

Whoever thinks that -spitting out your gumshield like a pussy, turning your back on your opponent, standing infront of your opponent with your hands dangling down by the balls that would be there is you actually had any, refusing to face the man who's belt you've just been gifted at the post fight press conference, and mouthing off like a smarmy cocky prick when you know you didn't truly win the fight- are admirable actions, then by all means go on and support Smarmy Sam. If you think they are the actions of a cowardly, disrespectful tosser, support Rogan.Even if Sexton never set foot in East Belfast,he's still a sorry excuse for a sportsman, anyone can see that.

This thread is ridiculous. I love Rogan, a lot more than Sexton, but Sexton didn't do too much wrong. He spat out his gumsheild. A lot of fighters do this. But the vehemence towards Sexton is largely unjustified. From what I've seen, Sexton is an okay dude.

"He turned his back on Rogan."

I keep hearing that, but no one can provide proof of it. I even posted a link to the 8th round and still people draw a blank. Look at the video. Rogan turns Sexton around when he's trying to finish him. Sexton didn't turn around on purpose at all.

And regarding the gumsheild incident. Yes, I don't like it either, but it's exploiting the rules. It's not banned from the sport, and it does carry a penalty. Like I have said previously, Sexton doing it isn't an unprecedented case. It happens all the time.

The only gripe I would have if I was Rogan's fans is that Parris didn't take a point off Sexton for spitting the shield out, but if we're honest, it didn't make too much difference to the outcome, as Rogan had his chance to put Sexton away, and didn't take it.

Easy on me, fellas.

No link I'm afraid but our friend Mr. Flexen wrote it. The photo of Eastside was taken by me on my Missus's dodgy digital camera. To be honest, weighing up the evidence I think it might be a misunderstanding and Sexton appears to be in the clear, if for no other reason than coming across a bit as a gormless lump rather than a cunning-minded, sectarian stirrer :D Hope he doesn't read that and chin me.

We all know the idea of selling a fight off the back of a political divide that has crippled people and places for years is sick and hopefully it will blow over. Three things that need to happen in the rematch:

1) Added security. We don't need a proverbial "black eye for boxing" making the papers through any sort of incident.
2) Leave Dave Parris at home. I think Terry O'Connor will probably get the assignment.
3) Make sure there's no more white rappers doing the introductions :shame:

Good I am glad that it seems to have been cleared up.

I really dont understand why there would be any need to add any "additional spice" into the equation for this fight - there were already plenty of "USPs" to fill the stadium.

White rapper family members you mean!! :shame:

Twice I've tried to read this thread through, but just can't get past some of the posts, the term wheat and chaf was surely designed for interweb posting.

Finch sums up some of the juvenile posting by those spitting their poo.
Exactly, let's all hang Sexton when no one knows what actually happened when 100,000 Rangers and Celtic fans are at it every week
Spot on in regards to some of the muck on this thread. Almost as bad as the journos having a spat on the prizefighter thread.

Can't wait for the fight.

Aye for sure.

It's the kind of night you want to be involved in, right in the Lions den. Feed off it as the hero or villain, either as good.
