Agreed and i think to be fair to Khan he would take the fight if Warren would let him. It was an embarrasing defeat and anybody in there right minds would want to redeem themselves after that IMO.liamlion wrote:Yeah, its a fight that has got to happen.
Khan has to right that wrong otherwise it will be a shadow that will constantly hang-over him. If he doesnt go after Prescott there will (quite rightly) be a question mark about Khan's credibility as a top-level fighter. Khan has something to prove in taking that fight!

Yeah, i get the impression from Khan that he would take the rematch - its clear Warren does not fancy it. I like Khan, good luck to the lad.Walker Smith Jr. wrote:Agreed and i think to be fair to Khan he would take the fight if Warren would let him. Dont agree, he's always had his speed of hand and foot, and it wouldnt go to the cards for the simple fact that no matter how good your trainer is that dosn't put muscles on your chin and your still going to get hit at some point, you cant go out when its raining and not get wet. So Prescott looked poor in his last 2 fights, and not title challenging form, that dosn't mean anything other than make Khans loss to Prescott even worse. I bet Prescott would look title challenging form if he got a chance againts Khan again.alexpaterson wrote:No, Prescott has looked poor his last 2 fights and lost in his last 1 not title challenging form plus Warren knows it would be to risky so he wont do it but if it did happen I see Khan easily winning on the cards using his speed of hand and foot

If Amir Khan were to fight Prescott in a rematch and win, even if it was a safety-first points verdict, I would be mightily impressed.
Re: Khan, call out Prescott and set record straight.....
Exactly and so would I, if Khan wants to be repected and rated as a genuine champion he should fight Prescott again, but if Khan does not care so much about glory but more so for money then we are very unlikely to see it happen.superpunchout wrote:If Amir Khan were to fight Prescott in a rematch and win, even if it was a safety-first points verdict, I would be mightily impressed.

Since when do genuine champions take on guys in lower weight divisions who are coming one sided losses to no names? Khan should fight Bradley, Maidana, Alexander, etc if he want to be rated as a genuine champion. The legit 140 pounders who are coming off big winsDes1 wrote:Exactly and so would I, if Khan wants to be repected and rated as a genuine champion he should fight Prescott again, but if Khan does not care so much about glory but more so for money then we are very unlikely to see it happen.superpunchout wrote:If Amir Khan were to fight Prescott in a rematch and win, even if it was a safety-first points verdict, I would be mightily impressed.

If Khan went on to beat genuine quality light welters like Bradley, Maidana, Holt, Torres and Alexander then would you still be twittering on about the Prescott fight? If Khan wants glory and to be respected as a genuine world champion then he should fight the other title holders rather than rematch somebody who brings no importance to the table.Des1 wrote:Exactly and so would I, if Khan wants to be repected and rated as a genuine champion he should fight Prescott again, but if Khan does not care so much about glory but more so for money then we are very unlikely to see it happen.superpunchout wrote:If Amir Khan were to fight Prescott in a rematch and win, even if it was a safety-first points verdict, I would be mightily impressed.

I'd of thought that attempting to avenge the defeat to Prescott would bring a whole lot of importance after the crushing way Khan lost, the importance of also showing how much he has improved under Roach. Even by just getting in the ring again with Prescott again would say alot about Khans character. Surely if you dont class Prescott as genuine quality then Khan can not be obviously, so lets see if he can avenge that defeat before he mixes with the genuine quality and mentioned in the same breath as them. Khan is just a lucky version of Audley Harrison, its like Harrison being handed a weak 'world' title fight after his KO defeat by Sprott, its basically the same thing and of course everybody would be up in arms about that!banjo wrote:If Khan went on to beat genuine quality light welters like Bradley, Maidana, Holt, Torres and Alexander then would you still be twittering on about the Prescott fight? I think Khan would lose to Prescott again. The fight won't happen though, because that's how boxing works

Re: Khan, call out Prescott and set record straight.....
Its easy to see Freddy Roach is concentrating on technique/defence and other speed attributes. Im sure once this is acheived to Freddys approval then more work on the offence and power punching commences. This is what happened to Pacman, we all seem to forget how one dimensional (one handed) fighter Manny used to be. Freddy turned him around.
The Khan that beat Kotelnik beats Presscott via points but if we expect Khan to KO Presscot very unlikely at present.
Problem is if Presscott loses again is rematch a viable option......?

I never said he would win them, I'm just stating that if he did you'd still have no respect for him unless he beat Prescott.Des1 wrote:Somebody who brings no importance to the table?banjo wrote:If Khan went on to beat genuine quality light welters like Bradley, Maidana, Holt, Torres and Alexander then would you still be twittering on about the Prescott fight? It would be some importance to avenge that defeat if he wants to go on and be the superstar he's planning to be. Yes if Khan beat Bradley, Maidana, Holt, Torres and Alexander then I'd still say he should attempt to avenge the Prescott defeat...fact is though that Khan wouldn't beat Bradley, Alexander and co anyway.
Do you respect Alexis Arguello? He was done in a round and never avenged it.

Ah, there you've got me. I'm not sure Khan is actually yet ready to face Prescott in a return and I also doubt he could boil back down to lightweight without making himself even more vulnerable than the first time that the two fought.Des1 wrote:Exactly and so would I, if Khan wants to be repected and rated as a genuine champion he should fight Prescott again, but if Khan does not care so much about glory but more so for money then we are very unlikely to see it happen.superpunchout wrote:If Amir Khan were to fight Prescott in a rematch and win, even if it was a safety-first points verdict, I would be mightily impressed.
In all fairness too, the likes of Kostya Tszyu and Terry Norris suffered unavenged KO defeats during their prime years but their overall legacy overshadows this. So if Khan can keep winning maybe he won't need to rematch his nemesis either. Time will tell.
Re: Khan, call out Prescott and set record straight.....
Did I say that I dont respect Khan? Never said that as I respect every boxer and respect Khan for coming back from that defeat. Yes there are great fighters who have never avenged a defeat but also ones that have for example Joe Louis and Lennox Lewis and Im sure that if a fighter believes in himself after making a change he'd look to set the record straight where he went wrong, do I though have no respect if they dont? No, but do I have MORE respect if they do? Yesbanjo wrote:

He can get a pass of sorts if he takes on Maidana as he looks to have more legit power, is a natural 140lbs and throws with more variety
Re: Khan, call out Prescott and set record straight.....
Good point, beating another deadly if limited puncher would "make up" for Prescott fight.
Re Khan-Prescott 2 - Arthur-Gomez "2" anyone? Never happened. Gomez slipped so that he didn't bring too much to a rematch and it seems Arthur didn't fancy it enough to get revenge on a guy who battered the living sh-it out of him.
Khan and Prescott have gone in 2 totally different directions on the same weekend, I believe. Ironically Khan is now a LIGHT WELTER world champ and Prescott merely a LIGHTWEIGHT fringe contender coming off a loss.
Don't see it happening, Khan-Prescott 2. In today's boxing, if someone has your number you tend to find a different route, away from them.
