Hi guys
I am big fan of Indian boxing,and believe they have potential to get medals at international competitions as we have seen in Bejing Olympics (Vijender with bronze, Akhil and Jitender reaching quarter finals). I have been following them in Asian championships where they were 3rd in medals table overall behind China and Uzbekistan. World championships in Milan will be good chance for India to show the World, India can compete with Cuba, Russia and etc Central asian countries such as Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Do you guys agree with me?

India will be really strong in the coming years. I saw them at the World Youths and World Cadets and they have some really good boxers. 48 kg World Youth champ Nanao Singh could do well in Milan but more than two medals seems unlikely for now. But in the next few years (maybe already for the next olympics?) they might be like China is today.

I agree, India has been getting better each world tournament that I have seen them in. That goes for the men and women. With a billion people, they should be able to come up with some good boxers.

Nanao Singh had THE best footwork ive EVER seen.

Vijender Kumar, what a performance by to get a bronze in Milan, but he should have made it to final. Dinesh Kumar and Jai Bhagwan did well, but i reckon Nanao Singh will improve in future, i tipped him to do well.

Namit Bahadur
Sandeep
I could name more,but there is to much talent especially from North east indian states, such as Assam, Manipur
Nagaland.Another reason why Boxers will come from here is, boxing is popular here, not cricket, there are no famous cricket players from Assam or Manipur or Sikkim.

Good to see India doing well. At major tournaments I always support British boxers but I like to keep a look out for Indian boxers seeing as I am of Indian origin. Hopefully boxing's popularity in India can continue to grow and we'll see even more talent emerge.

I am glad i have met British of indian origin who likes boxing, my mates always talk about cricket which is boring. I follow British fighters, also look at Indian and Australian boxing.
There is no professional boxers in india because i know india boxers who are based in America and Australia Gurucharan Singh, Pradeep Singh, but there is no professional circuit in india.

Obviously boxing is popular in India. Vijender Singh already had a 10 year endorsement/sports marketing management agreement with Infinity Optimal Solutions and then Percept comes in and gives him a multi-year deal worth Rs 5 crore (approx $1,000,000). However, the Indian High Court has struck down Percept's deal and ruled Vijender can't make any other deals. WOW, Unbelievable! Companies fighting over the rights to have an endorsement contract with an amateur boxer. That doesn't happen here in the U.S.

Yes that's a great shame because as Dennis has mentioned, boxing is already popular so if professional boxing were to take off it could become really big. Hmmmm...............
