Whats Joe Cal think about Johnson now?

Wonder what Joe Calzaghe thinks about Glen Johnson now after all the shit he talked about him when he refused to reschedule the fight that Joe pulled out of. Joe said something like " Glen should be thanking me because he'll never get a payday like this anywhere else" among other arrogant things he said. Glen infact and his managers are laughing at Joe for talking down to them in an article at Secondsout.

I'm a big Calzaghe fan, but he went too far in his attacks on Johnson. Joe was the one who pulled out of the fight, and should have been angry with himself, not lambasting Johnson for not wanting to reschdule.

All that cheap talk about Johnson has come back to haunt him, and I can't say he doesn't deserve it.

By Anthony Evans in Memphis: The close knit team around IBF light heavyweight champion Glen Johnson is feeling on top of the world following their crushing, Earth-shaking KO of Roy Jones Junior here on Saturday night.

With the nine round beat down and frightening KO of the former pound-for-pound king, the softly spoken Jamaican-American pic by Mr Will and his camp can now look forward to lucrative, high-profile showdowns with the likes of Antonio Tarver and Bernard Hopkins - a far cry from where they were a year ago.

Yet it seems they are still smarting that WBO super-middleweight champ Joe Calzaghe pulled out of their showdown in the summer. After a previous postponement Calzaghe pulled out on a week's notice in June with a back injury - which enraged Johnson to the point where he refused to reschedule no matter how much money was offered by Calzaghe's promoters Sports Network.

"Calzaghe disrespected me and spoke about me like I was the challenger and didn't have other options other than to go to (Wales)," said Johnson. "But now I have knocked out Roy Jones. What does he think now? He's probably thankful he never fought me."

Eccentric, outspoken manager Henry Foster, who dubbed Calzaghe 'a punk' and a 'complete pussy' on these pages back in June, was more vitriolic: "Joe will have already thanked God a million times that he had the sense to invent those mysterious 'injuries' in the summer. He'll be at church all week, believe me. That's the difference between my guy and a guy like Calzaghe - Glen will fight anyone whereas Joe will only fight has-beens in his own backyard.

"Glen has gone all over Europe fighting kids in their own hometowns, he took the fight with Hopkins, he took the fight with Jones and he took the fight with Calzaghe before Joe pussied out. What has Joe ever done? Does he even leave his own front yard? Are you seriously telling me he'd have accepted a fight with either Hopkins or Jones if it wasn't 100% on his terms? And what the heck is Joe Calzaghe? A no-one, that's who!"

But, with the unbeaten Welshman expected to move up to 175lbs after his next fight, the chances are the fight will soon be back on the cards; especially if Antonio Tarver is forced to make a mandatory defence of his WBC title rather than accept a unification bout with Johnson.

Foster said: "If Calzaghe can move up to 175lbs and beat someone we've heard of maybe he can get back in line, maybe. But my message to him is to stay in his little paddling pool fighting these bums and has-beens. Whatever you do, Joe, don't grow a pair of balls and come to America looking for Glen Johnson."

Calzaghe has an over inflated opinion of himself, no disrespect but he talks about Boxing assuming the people listening don't know Boxing. Real fans can see through the bullshit...Calzaghe's talk is cheap and cuts no ice with the Boxing community.

If you go to allegedly.tv you will see Calzaghe has signed a new contract with Warren. To me that shows he no longer has ambition. Why stay with a promoter who has constantly failed to deliver big fights?

I hope Johnson ignores Calzaghe and fights other big names to get the paydays he deserves.

Also on allegedly there is a snippet of how 2005 will be the year of Ricky Hatton. didn't we hear that in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004?

Anyone know how ticket sales are going? badly I hope.

Be interesting to see if Calzaghe will be so vocal now regarding a Johnson fight, knowing that he might have to go overseas and take the short-end of the purse now that Johnson's the man who beat the man who'd just got knocked out by another man... if you know what I mean!

Good luck to Johnson though, like his nickname suggests, a real road warrior who's battled on and got his just desserts. I was ringside for his fight against Toks Owoh and he's one of the best technicians I've had the pleasure to watch live, a real world-class operator and it's nice to see he's gone on to win a world title, especially after some of the decisions that have gone against him.
