Murray Mandatory For Mezaache
Murray Mandatory For Mezaache
Apologies if everyone knew but I know I did'nt.
Apparently deadline for private negs is Oct 3rd and then it will go to purse bids, hopefully Hennessy can get it over here as Mezaache had no problems travelling for Thaxton and with the right pay day he will surely be only too happy to come.
Without degrading him I cannot see anyway he beats Murray who will simply be too busy and too strong for him.
Its not that I am sold completely on Murray but flicking out that jab and dancing away as Mezaache will do is not getting the job done again as it was previously against Thaxton.
About time Murray got his big fight and it should be another Euro champ for Britain
Similar topic on Nicky Cook who is number 1 contender after the two guys who are contesting the vacant title at Super-Feather following Gulyakevich vacating for a world title shot, so he should get his chance early next year as well.

Re: Murray Mandatory For Mezaache
murry will win mezzache doesnt look spectacular just tough probably points
Re: Murray Mandatory For Mezaache
Thaxton/Murray means nothing to me now. I hope Murray can get Mezaache, even if it were in France. Looking how Jonno had him hurt in the first round I would fancy Murray to do that, but take him out. So hopefully this is Murray's next fight.

This would be an excellent chief support for Froch vs Dirrell.
Re: Murray Mandatory For Mezaache
Great fight if it comes off.
Re: Murray Mandatory For Mezaache

Re: Murray Mandatory For Mezaache
Come on, Murray fighting for a European title is MAIN EVENT material. If Barker v McDermott and Bendall are main events, then Murray v Mezaache has to be.
Has Hennessy got an option on Mezaache? Can he make the fight easily?
Sod Murray-Thaxton. Means little, now. Could have meant something, could have meant a lot at one time when both were champs. But not now, after Thaxton lost his title then lost again.

Re: Murray Mandatory For Mezaache
Yep I hope they dont try to con us with Thaxton vs Murray as it means nothing and is just another fight for MUrray to be waiting round for his shot and potentially pick up an injury or a blip when he doesn't need to.
Thaxton's been a great warrior but to me he's done what he's done now, won the euro belt he should retire as he has gassed seriously in his last 2 fights I just think maybe his body is saying enough.
As for Murray- Mezaache, I see only one result, Murray early or mid-round KO by body shot assassination.

Re: Murray Mandatory For Mezaache
Shame we never got Thaxton-Murray, but with Thaxton's latest defeat I reckon that fight is dead in the water. Hopefully the Mezzache fight can get sorted ASAP and then Murray can perhaps win back his British title to secure the lonsdale belt. This is looking ahead a bit but how about Murray-Arthur?
Ps. Who is the current Commonwealth lightweight champion? (I googled it to no avail)

Re: Murray Mandatory For Mezaache
Lee Mcallistar is commonwealth lightweight champion i think
Re: Murray Mandatory For Mezaache
Having been a "world champ", Arthur probably won't go back down to British or Euro level.black panther wrote:Shame we never got Thaxton-Murray, but with Thaxton's latest defeat I reckon that fight is dead in the water. I would like to see Murray v Arthur, though.

Re: Murray Mandatory For Mezaache
I hope Murray gets his EBU shot very soon, but in the meantine I don't see that much of a problem seeing Murray-Thaxton, presuming the BBBofC allow Murray to box for it again.
I didn't think Thaxton lost to the Frenchman or Glover. A couple of questionable decisions against him and everybody turns
He may be on the slide but Thaxton's desire is still burning and Thaxton-Murray would still be fireworks while it lasted. I'd favour Murray, but one crack on the button from Thaxton and who knows?

Re: Murray Mandatory For Mezaache
Murray will pressure him and win by mid KO I wasnt that impressed with Meezache against Thaxton I thought Thaxton fought poor
Re: Murray Mandatory For Mezaache
I wasn't impressed with Mezaache in the Thaxton fight either, but he did show heart to come back from a 10-7 first round. To me, he's likes to fight, and Murray would walk through him. In the Jonno fight he just got to the punches quicker than Thaxton - no real snap or accuracy. Just out-landed him. I could see Murray vs Meager part II coming up, so that's why I wouldn't be bothered with Murray going to France for this. Surely he would walk through him and bring the European title back home to England?

I didn't see the Glover fight, but he lost to Mezaache on my card. Opening rounds aside, Thaxton was poor that night.THEBUTCH wrote:I hope Murray gets his EBU shot very soon, but in the meantine I don't see that much of a problem seeing Murray-Thaxton, presuming the BBBofC allow Murray to box for it again.

Re: Murray Mandatory For Mezaache
Unbeaten Manchester hope John Murray is lined up for a mandatory shot at the coveted European lightweight title held by unsung Frenchman Anthony Mezaache.
Mezaache, you will remember, shook up the whole of Norfolk with a thoroughly deserved 12-round decision over Thetford’s big-hitting Jon Thaxton for the title earlier this year in Norwich and has since retained with a 12-round decision over former conqueror Andrei Kudriavtsev of the Ukraine.
The swarthy Parisian is tough (never stopped), capable and improved. He was outscored by tall Scot Dave Stewart over here in 2005 which threw everyone off prior to the Thaxton challenge, given that Thaxton had stopped Stewart (with some difficulty, granted). Mezaache came from nowhere to secure an automatic world ranking. He deserves respect.
Nevertheless, this pending shot has come at a good time for Manchester’s Murray, who lost his British title on the scales in the summer (he fought anyway and stopped Stoke’s Scott Lawton) but was only a couple of ounces over and will surely have learned his lesson. Trained by Joe Gallagher, Murray is living up to his early promise, when he was named Young Boxer of the Year by the Boxing Writers’ Club in 2006 and took the English lightweight title with a four-round hammering of decent Midlander Dean Hickman a year later. He then endured a sticky patch but still came through a couple of so-so performances with the win (the sign of a good fighter) and really came good again to destroy Salford’s Lee Meager in five rounds to wrest the British title last year, a title he retained impressively against Aberdeen stylist Lee McCallister.
Murray is a fast starter who maintains his early pressure. He has great stamina (so has Mezaache, for that matter) but can be a bit open but only because he is right there belting away at his opponents. He’s boxed on big shows in the States, sparred Ricky Hatton, called out Amir Khan… He looks primed for this shot, although (despite his Stateside experience) he needs to get it over here. Mezaache, a former French champion, is bound to take him the full 12 rounds and you never know in front of a crowd of hooting Parisians. Negotiations are currently ongoing.

Glad for Murray, think its the right time to step up now.
Forget the Thaxton fight now. Murray would've had him out by the 8th imo now anyway. Thaxton's a shadow of his former self which is a shame.

If MH lost the bids I'd probably go to Paris for this
