2 pictures of 2 boxers - Who is who?

Post by Gruyff »

Please help me finding out the names of this two men, who must have been boxers. One could be Mike Schutte, one could be Kosie Smith. You would also help me, if you say, that definitely none of them is Kosie Smith e.g., because I could exclude the man...

Please help me!

I'm german, but I hope my english is good enough to understand it.

I would say the B boxer is Mike Schutte. I recognize his face from an action picture.
If the A is Kosie Smith, I can't confirm, he looks a bit older here.
Not impossible, though.

Thank you!!!! :D

Are you sure, that the B boxer is Mike Schutte or do "only" think, that he is it?
Do you have this action picture you're talking about? Could you post it here or send it to me (E-Mail)?

I have a very large collection of pictures and magazines.
I don't know yet where I may find the Schutte action picture, it may be in a box of clippings, or in a magazine.
I do recall it's from the 1975-11-29 Jose Roman fight.
However, I can tell that pictures of heavyweights is my speciality.
I have at least one picture(s) of Kosie Smith in Boxing News magazine(s), from his active days.
I suggest you store the pictures, this may take some time.
Don't exlude anyone yet.

I hope you can find the two pictures (Smith and Schutte)! You would help me very much.

Moreover:

What do you know about them? (Sports career and anything else)

I collect all these informations, because there's a book about the movies of Bud Spencer and Terence Hill which will appear probably next year.
Mike Schutte, Kosie Smith and also Nick Van Rensburg, Johan Naudé, Malcolm Kirk and Joe Bugner took part in the movie "I'm for the Hippopotamus". All of them were boxers and/or catchers.
Kirk was a catcher, about Bugner there are a few information and about Naudé there is at least a picture, but about Schutte, Smith and Van Rensburg, who were all boxers, there aren't much informations.
I know something about them but not how they look or: I don't know surely who is who... :)
Many, many supporting roles from Bud Spencer/Terence Hill movies will get a place in this book and I think there should also be a place for Mike Schutte, Kosie Smith and Nick Van Rensburg. ... with a picture of them at best.

OK Gruyff.
Give me the week-end, I'll see what I can do.
I'm busy with boxing bouts research, among other things.
Later.

I found the Mike Schutte/Kosie Smith pics. Give me your email and I'll send it.
I'm positive Schutte is the right guy.
You can exclude Van Rensburg who was active in 1949, must be an old man in the movie.
However, there are a few other Van Rensburgs of younger generations.
Name search, use; ? Van Rensburg.

1949-boxer was Nick Van Rensburg and in the movie theres also a Nick Van Rensburg. The two fights, the 1949-boxer made, were fought in South Africa. It's possible that he is the Nick Van Rensburg from the movie, but it isn't sure. I also found a picture of a Nick Van Rensburg who is working today in South Africa for an organisation. Obviously there are a few Van Rensburgs in SA.
But I have a suppositon who could be the Nick Van Rensburg in the movie. It's a man who's old enough to could have boxed in 1949 and his role in the movie refers to boxing... :)
