I lost a friend last week, Bennie Flores was a close buddy of mine, hadn't seen much of him lately as he and his wife Mary had moved to the High Desert (Hesperia) about 3 years ago, his service is Sunday and funeral on Monday, I'll be coming back from my fishing trip on Sunday afternoon in time to go to the viewing on Sunday night.... :witzend:

Hey Frank . . .

As kept men, especially considering your health issues recently, you and Ray might want to take a nurse with you on the trip.
A Brazilian nurse knows how to care for a kept man. How about this one . . .

She'll see you take your medicine.

A Tiny Boxing Ring . . .

I was looking for information on professional boxing in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil.
While on YouTube, I find this match and was surprised how tiny the ring was.
I've seen some small ones and even fought in a few, but this is really small.
The guys in the ring are both stocky cruiserweights, not tall.
When one crossed the ring, he went from one side to the other in three steps.
There was hardly room for the referee.
Any "small ring" stories out there, or "large ring" stories?

Rick
That's the smallest ring I've ever seen. Can't recall any unusually large rings. I've seen some rings in bars and clubs that the mat lies flat on the carpet. You remember the 21 Club in National City. They had a ring like that.

Hagler should have argued for this ring when he fought Leonard. I can't tell if it's a ring or a play pen.

You guys should know that I too am a kept man. As long as I get my ass up and go to work, pay the bills, put food on the table and take care of her every need, she keeps me around. I appreciate her letting me stay.

By the way Frank, have a great time and take some good pictures.

SCHOOL DAYS

When I went to school in the 50's and early 60's I remember getting into fights all the time. Most of them were in the canyon or across the street in the alley. When word would get out that there was going to be a fight it was assured there was always a good turn out.

Sometimes, however, there were fights on the school grounds during school hours. I was in a few in the lunch court that I remember. I was even in a fight on the front steps of the school one morning. A teacher tried to break it up and wound up breaking his arm.

The point I want to make with this is that I can't remember anyone getting in trouble for fighting. The fights were one on one. No weapons nor kicking anyone when he was down. When one guy gave up,that was it. Most of the time they wound up being friends. Sometimes friends would fight each other because that was the best way of settling something.

Today in the world of school, getting into at fight is something that the administrators and teachers equate with first degree murder. It's the worst thing in the world. Now don't get me wrong. I've seen a lot of cheap shots and 3 on 1 jobs, but there are the fair fights like we used to have in the good old days. Today ,even if the kid is a sissy and doesn't throw back,he's suspended.

School administrators. Are they thinking of getting sued? That's probably it. If not,I wonder what kind of nylons they wear?
