Of course even my fight reports take up half a magazine on their own. Cheers for the big up Dave, it's been hard work for the last 6 months getting to this stage, and Ian has really broken his bollocks this month tp get this done.

From the bit I pulled off the net about 'What if: Holmes v Lewis' they need a better sub-editor... I always thought it was Lennox – not Lenox... tut tut... good luck though, they'll need it in today's market. Will buy it to check it out though.

That material is actually from the trial issue, must check the actual copy, may just have been an error on the website.

had a good look through it today...it's got a fresh, modern feel to it that i like and is certainly welcomed...and it doesn't put too much emphasis on fight reports of fights that happened some time ago.

guys, have you got any idea of how many it will sell? a target? how many do boxing monthly shift a month?

No idea, Adam, on how many BM sell or how many we will. I hope you found the first issue is a lot better than the trial one though!

Well, it is arguable whether there is room for two boxing monthlies on the market, but then again Boxing Monthly is terrible and has been for years... I enjoyed a few articles in the promo issue. Good luck.

I wouldn't go so far as to say Boxing Monthly is terrible, Graham Houston's articles are always good, it's just the editor Glyn Leach. He just doesn't seem to bothered who's arse he is kissing week in week out.

YEs Graham Houston is the only good writer.

Glyn Leach's writing is terrible though - it's true he doesn't arse kiss,but his writing is terrible - just rambles on and on and uses unprofessional and/or unfunny analogies.

Steve Farhood - always of of my most disliked writers even in the days when I was young and read Ring and KO. He has the same formula every time....
1. Some lame analogy between a specific boxer and something else in life.
2. Some extremely unfunny attempts at humour (so poor and cheesy)
3. An uninteresting, shallow article that lacks analysis or indeed ANYTHING of any value.....just an excuse to try and fit in some of his putrid 'jokes'.

Steve Bunce - on TV and the independent, despite his flaws, he is watchable/readable but his column in BN????

The worst writing I have ever, ever read.

I still buy it every month though.....but that is due more to me addiction to all things boxing, although it does have good photos.

I will try and find Uppercut when I go into Smiths today...

Well I had a flip through Uppercut yesterday and I tell you what fellas that's not a bad effort. Shit loads of pictures is a good idea, each with the fighters name clearly printed. Any non-hardcore fan looking for an uncomplicated overall update is definitely going to appreciate this.

I bought it on saturday, really like it will definitely be having another look next month. Job well done. Also noticed it stands out quite a bit on the shelves aswell which can only be good. My local Smiths had Boxing Monthly stacked up behind it! ;)

Picked up my copy yesterday, and i was just wondering if there's enough space left on the band-wagon for me.

It's definitely a bit different, but i like it. The layout, the way the articles are written, the subject of those articles, and the multitude of pictures, are perfectly suited to youger fans, which is exactly what the sport needs. It's not just one massive block of unwieldy text, that's often enough to put people off before they even buy the thing. It's a welcome addition i think.

I liked McNeilly's article on Bruno/Witherspoon, superb. And the Chris Aston article wasn't bad either.

I'll be giving it another look.

Wife picked up a copy for me. Ive got her well trained.

Good all round magazine, certainly refreshing. Like the comedy corner very much. Can see a few Boxrec Topics in there.

My only complaint is that the print is too small and Steve Holdsworth dont give Bernard Hopkins his due.

if anyone doesn't like what I write, fair do's they're entitled to their opinion, and sometime's time constraints means you cannot always produce what you want. Can't please everyone as I say. As long as I feel I've put my best effort into the piece which I generally try to, then I'm happy.

Too small!! Blimey, you must have a telescope as reading glasses, I thought the print was way too spaced out, barely managed to fit the copy in as it was without putting it in Mr Men typeface!
