Re: Breaking News: Prizefighter line-up revealed
So the line up is
Danny Williams
Michael Sprott
Scott Gammer
Audley Harrsion
Scott Belshaw
Michael Holden
Coleman Barrett
Danny Hughes
Good line up, may be even the best Prizefighter line up yet.
Don't know much about the last three, but Coleman Barrett sounds like an Estate Agents to me.
I think if Danny Williams get his head right for it he should win........but Prizefighter has a habit of throwing a spanner in the works.
Any word on reserves? Maybe Chris Burton or Chisora???

Prizefighter is a sick joke. Events like this are turning boxing into a circus.

dbflex are you danny flexen?
Re: Breaking News: Prizefighter line-up revealed
This rivalry is as thrilling as the Robinson-Lamotta saga.
Re: Breaking News: Prizefighter line-up revealed
That is a Great Line up...easily the best Prize Fighter Line up Ever!So the line up is
Danny Williams
Michael Sprott
Scott Gammer
Audley Harrsion
Scott Belshaw
Michael Holden
Coleman Barrett
Danny Hughes
I actually think its going to suit Williams the best, he can be a very Lazy Fighter but knowing its only 3 rounds will make him come out Fast.
Dayuuuum can u imagine a Harrison vs Williams/Spott Final :)
WOW this could be AMAZING.

Re: Breaking News: Prizefighter line-up revealed
Is Bennie a ex writer for boxing news :??
Re: Breaking News: Prizefighter line-up revealed
I Disagree with you there....You want Danny vs Audley as a Possible FinalHope they have sense to put Danny v Audley III as first round fight. I would think they could go to bigger venue than York Hall, though, but the venue will be rocking for this, I am sure.
I'd split it into these 2 Groups
Danny Williams
Scott Gammer
Coleman Barrett
Michael Holden
So u have a Possibility of Williams Rematch with Gammer
Audley Harrsion
Scott Belshaw
Danny Hughes
Michael Sprott
So u have Harrison vs Sprott Rematch
So Semi's could be
Williams vs Gammer
Harrison vs Sprott
and than FINAL could be
HARRISON vs WILLIAMS :)

Because it at least brings some attention to a sport that desperately needs it. It's in a long tradition of small hall boxing venues and boxing booths. Short fights crammed into a single night, with someone emerging with the prize money.bennie wrote:Prizefighter is a sick joke. Events like this are turning boxing into a circus.
I'd rather watch prizefighter than a bloated bill full of debutantes and overmatched opponents who've been brought to be bowled over.
Re: Breaking News: Prizefighter line-up revealed
I'd buy a boxing news ringtone. If it's a polyphonic "Ding Ding" then i'd even ditch my ring ding ding ding Crazy Frog for that.
Anyway, why are boxing writers always arguing on these forums? Sometimes i can't tell if it's banter or not.
Maybe we should have a PrizeFighter.. err i mean Prize-Writer, but a battle of spelling tests, word meanings and 'spot the apostrophe mistake' ?
It would be a PPV blockbuster and would sent Justin.tv into meltdown.
Or just have a plain old fight on the cobbles. Loser buys the next round of ink cartridges ?

You're kidding me right? I mean, it's a good lineup, but aren't you getting carried away?Ant Evans wrote:Just spoke to Danny, he's totally fired up for this. His body fat is down to 11% already. Cannot wait for this. Not been this excited for UK boxing event since days of Benn/Hamed. Cannot wait!![]()
I'll believe Danny's body fat is down to 11% around the same time Audley reports balls the size of space hoppers.
Re: Breaking News: Prizefighter line-up revealed
Well i think its worth taking the chance.....And, the early UFCs proved that if you try and arrange the fights so you get Fighter X and Fighter Z in the final - it won't happen. Audley v Danny III is the biggest fight for this tornament and so they should start off with that fight. You cannot ever tell what's going to happen, so let's guarantee this happens right away and make the fight a big part of the hard sell.
Doing it my way we could still get cool 1st Rd Fights like:
Williams vs Gammer - Rematch of their British title fight
and
Harrison vs Sprott - Rematch of their commonwealth title fight
so whatever happens you get the Tournament off to an Exciting start.

Re: Breaking News: Prizefighter line-up revealed
'Fraid not. Small hall boxing staged real fights over real distances (Tiger-Downes at Shoreditch Town Hall) and the booths involved men off the street who fancied their chances against a former pro. It's more akin to the the old ABA preliminary stages, when amateurs had to win two, three or even four fights in one night to get through to the next stage.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Because it at least brings some attention to a sport that desperately needs it. It's tradition is amateur-based, three rounds, three fights.

Re: Breaking News: Prizefighter line-up revealed
Some PrizeFighters are boring, like the lightweights, but when the big boys are involved, then it's fun. It also throws some names into the British or Commonwealth title mix, like Lomax, Sexton, Rogan, probably Oakey and a certain Martin Murray.
It has its pros and cons, but overall, it's good for British boxing, IMO.

Re: Breaking News: Prizefighter line-up revealed
Everyone has an opinion but the day Ted Bami, a former European champ, regressed to an old amateur format was plain sad.
Re: Breaking News: Prizefighter line-up revealed
I'm slightly miffed that a British champion has entered one of these. I'm assuming he would make much more money keeping his British belt, and fighting someone like Chisora. And I do fear for Danny in this format. It will be a shame to see him lose his belt on PrizeFighter. But if Fury vs Tyson happens for the vacant belt, then that will be amazing. Danny is shot to bits.

Good point. George Foreman once fought five men in one night, and never really recovered in the latter 1970s.Dioufy wrote:I'm slightly miffed that a British champion has entered one of these. Not on the night but if he gets beat im sure he will be stripped, or ordered to fight who beat him...
Very good line up
Re: Breaking News: Prizefighter line-up revealed
I don't think that Williams should be stripped regardless of what happens in this tournament.
Why should he lose his title for losing a non-title fight?

Do you have any examples of this happening?Ant Evans wrote:BBB of C have stripped champs in the past for losing non-title fights to British fighters...
Why?Ant Evans wrote:If he gets KO'd, then I guess he would have to be stripped.
