MEN ARENA DISAPOINTING

Post by theguru »

It was a shame to see the MEN ARENA maybe half full 8000 max the crowd has deserted Hatton. It is a shame ,there will be excuses with it being a Friday night but it was a poor turn out.Frank may be killing the goose that lays the golden egg. Some good undercard fights Morris and Foster impressed and cam through the tests with flying colors. For me though the highlight of the night was watching Sheffield journey man Daniel Thorpe make 2 time ABA champ Steven Bell look very ordinary.Thorpe wound up one shot and hit Bell with the other wobbled Bell in the first very entertaining.

fornicating hell, if they use it being Friday night as an excuse then they are scraping the bottom of the barrel. Its not like people have to get up the next day, is it?

(Says the guy who is sat on his internet before 8am on a Saturday morning)

Yes, but if you work/live in London it's bloody impossible to get to Manchester for a 6.15 start, unless you take time off work etc, whereas on a Saturday I can get there no problems

It's also fornicating impossible to get home, as the last train leaves at 10.00. So unless you drive up there, no chance! Got marooned there last time around and had to get a B&B.

As most of the people attending those cards are the Hatton faithful, I don't think the switch to a friday will make much difference.

I think the poor crowd may be a blessing in disguise, it may put 'team Hatton' under more pressure to get Hatton a fight with one of the elite Light-Welterweights.

The poor crowd just goes to show "you can't fool all the people, all the time".

The poor turnout is good news. It may force him to put Hatton in a real fight. Hattons fans had seen Steward before get utterly dominated by Mitchell and they knew that they where being ripped off. They are starting to catch on.

Juts got back (it is a nightmare journey) the cab driver taking us to the MEN didn't even know there was anything happening there last night. He didn't know Hatton was fighting and when we were approaching the building did look empty – no lights or posters or anything.
