Darrin Van Horn - what's he up to?

Post by Slapsie Maxie »

just looking at an edition of Ring Magazine from 1987 and there is a feature on Darrin Van Horn as a hot prospect at Middle

I had not thought about him for years, but remember him having a solid record.

checking out the stats on Boxrec, I see that he had a more than solid record with 50 odd wins and 3 losses ( once against Barkley and twice against Rossi ) he finished on a winning streak but does not appear to have fought since '94

Does anyone know why he stopped fighting or what he is doing now?

What was his fight with Lindell Holmes like?.Holmes gave Eubank a tough fight after it and i wouldn't have expected him to lose to Van Horn.

I will always remember Vann Horn getting slaughtered by a very mean looking Barkley

There was also talk of him fighting Nigel Benn at one time. I think Benn would have stopped him.

I think Vann Horn may have been the, or one of the youngest Light-Middleweight Champions ever.

I believe Van Horn was studying to be a vet at the University of Kentucky. So he might be doing that now.

A vet that's ironic, I'm sure I remember a quote fron Van Horns father that when Darren was about 5 years old he was bitten by the family dog. Darren turned around and bit the dog back. Right at that moment his father said he knew Darren was going to be a fighter.
