The Lacy fight was arguably his best performance but you have to bear in mind Lacy's lack of experience and limitations. Although Kessler is still somewhat unproven at the highest level that was a good victory.

Eubank and Hopkins were his standout wins for me.
Ye I agree with that JC best performance was against Lacy but his best win was against Hopkins and Kessler imo

OK, I admit it, Lacy was a great fighter and one of the best in the sport. Calzaghe showed his greatness by beating a really great fighter in Lacy. Taylor and Roy and lucky Calzaghe beat Lacy because Lacy would have been the next Mike Tyson if Calzaghe didn't. Lacy would have beaten everyone and went up to heavyweight and beaten both Klitschkos.

It doesn't matter that he struggled to a 115-113 win over Omar Shieka, he was still great.

Hilarious...

Let's see, you've only been posting here a week.

If you had of been here at the time of lacy/Clazaghe you'd have seen a lot of respected posters who couldn't call the fight one way or the other, in fact a lot went against Calzgahe.

Although they have since revised their view :TU:

I maintain Calzaghe ruined Lacy.

This is so funny...Fighting over whether Lacy was ever any good or not :)

Who are these so called RESPECTED members who couldn't call the fight one way or another....well they sure as shit aint respected by me.

Lacy made his name knocking out and in some cases struggling with C Level old Fighters like Syd Vanderpool, Omar Sheika, Rubin Williams, Robin Reid and Scott Pemberton.....Even the Lacy of today would pretty much beat those level of Fighters now so its not that he's moved backwards, he just isn't good enough to compete at Elite Level with the Likes of Calzaghe, Taylor and RJJ.

Having watched 3 of Lacy's Fights(Richard Grant, Omar Sheika and Robin Reid) before he went in against Calzaghe, i never thought he had a Chance but i'd admit even i didnt think it'd be a 12 rd beatdown.

Basically that was the night Calzaghe proved he was a A list Fighter and Lacy proved he was always going to be nothing more than a B list fighter who can beat C list Fighters but nothing more.

I called Calzaghe V Lacy right.

On the day of the fight - I was caught up in the hype and saying Lacy was going to be too much for Calzaghe.

But come the night time a couple of hours before the fight I came to my senses and realised that Calzaghe was far too seasoned a fighter for Lacy and would win.

Did Calzaghe ruin Lacy, or was he just not that good in the first place?

He was decent but overhyped to the point where most yanks thought he'd destroy Joe and a load of Brits jumped on the Lacy bandwagon but when the big night came he shat his pants and has looked crap ever since, although didn't he have a bad injury against that Tsypko fella which put him out for a year afterwards as well.

The final round (no 10) was unbelievable.

I'm no professional boxer, but i swear i could have put it on Jones better than Jeff did.

You may think i'm exaggerating.. but sincerely i am not.

anyone else seen it ?

Yeah Gomez i seen it but why dont you put up the Link for People to see it.

Lacy was made to look bad by RJJ...he made James Toney and Hopkins look bad too and even a 50% 40 yr old RJJ is enough to make a C class Fighter like Lacy look bad now and to be fair to Lacy he was virtually Blinded in both eyes going into that 10th rd.

I just enjoyed the Fight for what it was and it could well be RJJ's last Masterpeice Performance...was simply a beautiful thing to watch an Artist like RJJ do his THING!

Thinly veiled "I've seen the Jones-Lacy fight and you haven't" thread.

I'm amazed you really needed to see Jones beat up on Lacy before you realized he was bad :oo

Lacy has always been over-hyped.

I mean come on dude. It's only the biggest Calzaghe fans that actually make something of it

Exactly. Its hilarious how the Calzaghe fans try to make out that it was some great win. Lacy is awful and always has been. Calzaghe was lucky enough to get there first. Lacy is just one dimensional. As I said, he struggled to a 115-113 win over Omar Shieka before the Calzaghe fight.

Actually it's you who is getting in a muddle over whether Lacy was any good or not - I'm saying Calzaghe ruined him, you're saying he was shit, we're on a different page.

If Calzaghe fan's declare it is a great win...

...then they automatically ruin Calzaghe's Lacy win by default.

Let's not forget, Joe fought both of these guys.
