Something like this may have been done before, but i dont recal seeing anything recently so lets give it a go.

Rank in order from 1st to 10th..... 1st place will pick up ten points, 2nd place nine points etc etc.

Active fighters count, so vote for Hatton, Haye etc if so you wish.

You dont have to be a boxing scholar in order to vote, simply vote on what you know.

Personally, there will be fighters from the past i might ommit because i do not know enough about them or have not seen enough of them, or their oponents they fought/did not fight during their era. That could be considered by some a reason for myself, and anyone else like me, not to vote at all on this thread as it could be viewed as obscuring the result. I can relate to that thinking, but if thats what one wants, i reckon the vast majority of us voting on this thread would be obscuring the result!

Lernnox is the best Canadian boxer ever...but doesn't belong on this list. HE represented Canada in the Olympics,not Britain and after his mother left has never lived here.The fact he was born here ishardly the be all and end all.

Ethincally due to an English mum Kessler is Half-english so why do we consider Lennox British and not KEssler?

That's one of the difficult things in determining 'nationality' - is it birthplace? Is it passport? Is it bloodline? Is it where the individual thinks he belongs?

I would say the latter, but Lennox has said he is Jamican-British-Canadian and a man of the world....so basically distances himself a bit...anyway - herte is my list. bearing in mind the difficuty of classification -

Lennox lives in the UK until the age of 12. He didn't have much choice but to move to canada as that is where his mum moved to. He has a house here, and one in Jamaica, but none in Canada as far as I am aware.

Whatever his reasons were for doing so is merely second guessing, he lived and fought out of the UK for several years, before he hit the big time and bought a house in Jamaica and the US, but then as a heavyweight world champ, it kinda makes sense to do so.

He now lives in Jamaica, which is where his mother is from, which again, makes perfect sense.

After pondering over all those great boxers from before the war, Wilde, Welsh, Lynch, Lewis etc, i came to the conclusion that i knew far to little of their careers and oponents they had faced/had not faced in order to be able to make a sound judgement. It was getting to close to guess work for me, so for that reason i've left them all out and focused on fighters after the second world war. Very odd indeed, given that i started this thread
