Mayorga/Trinidad in UK?
It's a shame this couldn't have been turned into a bumper night like last October. What a line up that was - Walker's Euro shot, Hide, Froch, then onto Carbajal, Corrales v Casa, Holy v Toney, then Reyes, Marquez, Morales and Hernandez.
Friday night was going to be one of the biggest boxing nights of the year what with Hatton v Harris and Tito v Mayorga. Now it's Hatton v Stewart and naf all else.
What a load of wank.

I think it's something to do with Don King more than Trinidad, doesn't he charge through the nose for his cards?MightyWarrior wrote:It's a f*****g disgrace Sky aren't showing this fight. Those clowns wouldn't know a decent fight from a hole in the ground.
( "You're offering us Ricky v Vilches?! Wow, great fight Frank!!" )
How long has Trinidad, one of the most exciting fighters we've seen in years, been around, and how many of his fights have Sky shown?
The sum total of three I reckon. Lueshing, Vargas and Oscar......pitiful.
Darke and co can rightfully hand their heads in shame. I can't be bothered with their shit coverage any longer and I'll be cancelling asap.
Any decent fights they manage to put on, I'll just watch in the pub.
With Sky already apparently cutting back on boxing, I think they are unwilling to spend a lot on this fight. The sad thing is, Trinidad probably wouldn't get that many buys, only hard core boxing fans know who he is, I bet far more casual boxing fans know who Hatton is than Trinidad.
I reckon they might only sell 50,000 PPV's for the Trinidad bout, compared to 200,000 for a Hatton fight, Pure guesswork of course.
Are the BBC showing it delayed at all?

Yes you're right about King, but on the other hand I'm sure he'd let the rights go for very little if Sky chose to show it a week later.
From his point of view, it's better to make something out of it in the UK, than nothing at all.
Sky tend to stick with Bob Arum cards - so they better show Morales/MAB 3 is all I can say.

It was live and it was free I watched and taped it. I also watched and taped the Vargas fight but that wasn't live. Sky showed you a clip of Vargas knocking down some boulders for his ring entrance and then cut to the first round.lirva33 wrote:Tito vs DLH was not live.MC Stompin wrote:Sky had TITO v DLH live and TITO v Vargas on the next morning.REAL_DEAL wrote:sky hav never showed a trinidad fight,

Do sky have something against trinidad?
I tell thee!
Don't tell me about DLH vs Trinidad, yes it was shown free on Sky Sports Extra (when digital was only just starting). I didn't have digital at the time but got it from a mate.
It stood on my video collection for months untill my old man accidentally taped over it for Cateley vs Beyer. I am still pissed off with him for that.
At least, I still got Cateley's moment of truimph.

I didn't have Sky for DLH - Trinidad, went for a period without it while switching from analogue to digital. Tito - Vargas was shown the next day, and they repeated it 3 or 4 times. I remember it taking me the whole day to put up the Christmas tree because I watched it every time.
I remember seeing Mike Tyson there supporting Vargas as was Vargas' family, including his young kids with the Rambo type headbands JC Chavez made famous. Always felt bad for those young un's seeing their dad chinned like he was, though they were so young maybe they don't remember it.
Man, 2000 was a brilliant year for free boxing on Sky: Barrera - Morales in an alltime classic to start the year, DLH - Mosely inaugurating boxing to the new Staples Center with a belter of a superfight, then the drama that was Tito - Vargas late in the year. All those were free... ah, those were the days.
