Weight Classes

Post by headhunters »

According to IFBA bantamweight is up to 118 lbs. Donna Biggers last fight was at 124lb Why do you keep switching her. Not that it really matters because she will keep climbing in the ranks. I'm just curious after a month of her last fight you decide to put her in a lower weight that she has not fought in. Could you put her back in the class that she weighs and fights in.

This is in scope:

1. We just see the problem with ranking the boxers in a correct division.

2. This issue is related to the the question - should a boxer simply keep his points, when he moves up (or down) the divisions - as we now do?

I suppose, the optimized rating in the new division should depend upon the rating in the old division, but there might be an optimized pointage between

- just keeping the old points and
- a complete re-start at 1,000 points in the new division.

I will try to find this optimized relation - maybe different for different different divisions - maybe depending on weight relations.

3. This would allow for assigning different pointages (ratings) to a boxer for different divisions he boxed in.

4. The correct division, where a boxer could be ranked officially, would then be

- the division, where he owns most points
- and where he has boxed in the last year

....
