Trinidad - Mayorga Spoiler

Post by Manos de Oro »

Trinidad stopped him in 8 in what some were calling a slugfest for the ages. Mayorga landed big shots early in the first and second and made Trinidad touch down in the third from a big right hand. They went toe to toe for most of the fight and traded bombs; Mayorga was cut and staggered frequently. He went down three times in the 8th and the referee stopped it. Some were calling it fight of the year.

Unfortunately not Steve, I followed what was happening by reading the sage-like analysis of those in the ESB chatroom. And yeah, all the boxing sites are slow as funk! Least they didn't crash like Tarver-Jones 2, etc. 8)

How? Is there somewhere to download it, I've got a 3 megabit line now, so I can download it if there is.

Right, just watched the fight - likely the most violent and savage slugfest between elite level fighters in the middleweight division since the 80's. I'd encourage everyone who has broadband to download it, or at least get a tape with ringwalks etc as soon as possible to witness this event. If not for the slugfest, then to witness a complete masterclass in economy of (power) punching by Trinidad.

You have two hard punching latino warriors standing in front of each other exchanging hail mary's, with one of them absorbing ~220 neck-snapping power punches in a fight that could have destroyed him. An absolutely brutal body shot puts Mayorga down for the first time ever in the 8th round and it feels like all his pride and lifeforce is leaving his body in the form of the saliva oozing from his mouth. Brutal. Brilliant.
