Williams vs Pavlik off!
According to the Current Scene Williams people want the fight in October and Pavlik reshceduled due to a knuckle injury bad news had all the makings off a great fight
Re: Williams vs Pavlik off!
Goosen has slated Pavlik, alluding to the fact there is something not right with Pavlik right now (drink?) and that he's looking for a new opponent for daddy longlegs.

apparently Pavlik missed 3 doctors apointments for his hand. Plenty of rumours about him drinking all the time.

Re: Williams vs Pavlik off!
168-170 the most williams has fought at is 157
Re: Williams vs Pavlik off!
Some is definitely wrong with Pavlik. He had "health" issues running up to the Hopkins fight and has now pulled out of fights with Sergio Mora and Paul Williams. Whether it's alcoholism, arthritis or something else, things don't look good for Pavlik.
The middleweight division is a shambles.

Re: Williams vs Pavlik off!
I told him to keep his hands up - his knuckles are always dragging on ther floor
D
Having said that it's probably more to do with his 'altercation' in a bar.
Even before the Hopkins fight he's always looked really basic to me, Williams will knock him out imo and I realise Pavlik has not been stopped before anyone mentions it. He's just average with a heavy hands and I'm suprised he's got as far as he has.

He's not average, that's how he has got so far. You can't be average and become regarded as the best middleweight in the World. Pavlik has a massive frame, a ramrod, straight jab, excellent power and a very good chin.Roars Like Me wrote:I told him to keep his hands up - his knuckles are always dragging on ther floorD

Like I said in my opinion he is average with heavy hands - again the middleweight divsion is not great by any stretch of the imagination. Good for him that he's got where he is thoughAsterix wrote:He's not average, that's how he has got so far. You can't be average and become regarded as the best middleweight in the World. Re: Williams vs Pavlik off!
It must be a high average. If Pavlik's average, what's Jermain Taylor?

OK.
What's Marco Antonio Rubio? Below average? Edison Miranda?

Re: Williams vs Pavlik off!
now Golden Boy are saying Williams should face Hopkins. Ooh, er, why didn't I think of that one before. I mean, what a natural fight to make.
Schaefer, "I don't think it would be good for Williams to go back down to 147 (for eg Mosley)." Yeah, of course, it would be better for Williams to fvck his career up vs a light heavyweight.
I think the days of, "fight a GBP fighter, get on HBO" are over. GBP grandfathers can't contribute anything to the sport; they can only cash out for themselves. GBP need a young marketable guy who can headline otherwise surely their relationship with HBO - boxing's biggest paymaster - will change for the worst.

That was the strongest. Other drugs have been mentioned, as well as Pavlik having arthritis in his hands.Wales wrote:They were the rumours werent they?Asterix wrote:Whether it's alcoholism,

Re: Williams vs Pavlik off!
Pavlik just can't make middleweight.
Re: Williams vs Pavlik off!
Like Ortiz? Oh, I forgot, they already chucked him in to deep. They need to develop some boxers like the Bobfather.Autobarn wrote:now Golden Boy are saying Williams should face Hopkins. Ooh, er, why didn't I think of that one before. I mean, what a natural fight to make.

I mean seriously. Williams fight at 175, when he at 147 18 months ago, that's just ludicrous. He's a good fighter, but no way is this a fair matchup. Hopkins would absolutely marmalise him, too mean, too experienced and way too strong.
Williams should tell them to go poke it.

I wouldn't even count Williams out against Hopkins. I think he can win that fight and would pick him.jamesmcdonnell wrote:I mean seriously. Re: Williams vs Pavlik off!
Well, I'd take Williams over anyone at 160. Pavlik, Sturm etc. This is not a crazy assumption.Wales wrote:So Optical, is there anyone from 147 - 175 you wouldnt pick williams against?
At 154, I'd also take him to beat anybody (although some JAMIE MOORE fans think he could beat williams
At 147, I think Floyd would beat him but I think Williams would beat everyone else at that weight. Again, not a crazy assumption.
At 168, things get tougher. You'd have to see how Williams travels up in weight but he is effective at 160 so I'd fancy him to get the job done against the lower level 168 pounders with ease. Ward, Miranda, Bika, Bute... all wins for Williams. I also don't rate Kessler that much and think Williams would beat him (Kessler has done nothing other than lose a close fight to Calzaghe in my view and is unproven, as is Williams at the weight but given the styles I'd take Williams). As much as I like Froch, he would take a hiding from Williams. Taylor might give Williams a tough fight, but I could see Williams winning. Abraham would simply be outclassed.
I don't know about 175. He might win and lose some matches up there. But I'd take him over an old B-Hop for sure. Too much activity, he'd wear B-Hop down and win easily on points at this stage imo.
Re: Williams vs Pavlik off!
Totally disagree, but interesting all the same
Re: Williams vs Pavlik off!
Lucian Bute is not a lower level super middleweight.

Re: Williams vs Pavlik off!
I would like to see Williams fight Strum the 2nd best MW now behind Pavlik I think B-Hop would be to big for him and strong I would go for a wide Hopkins UD
