Kell Brook - A bit of History

Here is a bit of interesting archive footage of a rather small Kell Brook winning the Yorkshire SABA championship in 2001 aged 14.

As can be seen, he has already developed that devastating left jab which he uses to great effect against an opponent who easily outreaches him.

I love the way that the amateur refs. like to take the limelight and have their moments of glory.

If he can mix it in the pro ranks as good as he did in this fight in the amateurs when the going gets tough, I reckon he will go all the way to the top.

You can see Brook's incredibly naturally talented. Very quick throwing and moving. I love the two punch combination from down low around 2.03 to 2.06 (obviously it doesn't take 3 seconds for the punches !) Almost Pryor-esque.

I'm still interested to see how he'd cope with somebody who back's him up with a straight stiff jab, get's in close and starts landing. None of his opponent's have given us that answer yet. I think that's the style you'd need to beat him. Either that, or someone who is even better fighting off the back foot than Brook, either through speed or taking advantage of a longer jab. I prefer the first option though. A very good pressure fighter will give us more clues to Brook's aspirations for world titles.

Also do 14 year old boxers lift weights ? Brook look's very muscular, even at that age.
