Punches where you...

Post by Dioufy »

... have just thought, "WOW!! The C*nt cant get up from that", but does get up.

Even if they've still lost the fight. A few examples here - I will think of more later.

Williams/Sosnowski
Pacquiao/Marquez II
Cleverly/McIntosh 2nd KD.

Go....

The one that stands out is Matthew Franklin (later Saad Muammad) when he was flattened by Richie Kates. It looked like Saad was 'out'.

Holmes v Shavers 2. How Holmes got up from that Shavers is probably still wondering

Hearns v Cuevas. When he buckled Cuevas and then hit him with that laser right hand Cuevas slumped to the floor as if he was dead. Amazngly he got up

Hearns-Hagler, although it was stopped I was amazed Tommy managed to haul his ass off the canvas.

Hopkins v Allen 3. Big shot flawed Allen and I couldn't see him getting up but he did.

here's a good one:

Kevin Anderson vs Mutley. by god he hit the deck hard, walked onto the shot, could hardly have been hit any harder, hit his head on the canvas, still up at 3 or 4. that man has a great chin and recovery ability :TU:

Third KD of Marquez vs Pacquiao 1.

Although he should never been allowed to continue - how did McCory beat then 10 count against Curry first KD I'll never know.

good thread...and here is one for you, i was ringside and i saw the eyes rolling in the head at about a count of 3.....and shit, he was up at 6, fantastic recuperative powers, ive never seen anything like it.

steve murray v bobby vanzie, i think it was the 1st round but it may have been the second. vanzie was absolutely pole-axed by a lumberjack of a left hook from murray.

bugger me with a bask broom handle..... vanzie got up and went on to stop murray in about 5 !!!

Mcintosh wasn't hit with a HUGE punch by Clev, but that flip up off the canvas was still very impressive under the circumstances. bloke's a nutter IMO

ALI vs FRAZIER 1

One of the greatest left hooks ever thrown and Ali gets up within seconds of hitting the floor...considering this was the 15th round of a hard gruelling fight and only recently coming back from a 3 and a half year exile from the sport makes it even more amazing and just show's what heart Ali had.

Definitely Holmes/Shavers for me, unbelievable, and to think that some critics said Holmes lacked balls in the amateurs...but Larry was never one to get beaten up for free.
And yes, Khan showed real guts to get up from those Prescott knockdowns.

Frazier going down 6 times against Foreman, kept getting up till even George was telling him to stay down. At one point both his feet left the canvas before he crashed over.

From behind his napper was rolling on his shoulders. Not a massive punch, true, but the way his head reacted to the punch, plus he was down already in the round and the fact that he fell directly backwards, I thought he was gone. But then he did what he did.

I always remember enjoying watching Steve Murray, and when he dropped Vanzie in the 1st I thought that was it, but if I remember right he just went from being lay there at 7 to being on his feet and ready to go at 8!! Would be good if someone could get the clip on, i'd do it myself but i'm crap at things like that! :TU:

From personal experience, the one that sticks out in my mind is Carl Thompson v Sebastian Rothman.
When Rothman went down, he managed to scramble up at around "6" and when the count reached "8" I asked him to walk towards me but he could only manage to walk backwards. Fight over! How the hell did he get up in the first place from such a bomb? :box:
