Home advantage for James Hare...

Post by bennie »

It's been confirmed David Barnes defends his British welterweight title against James Hare in Halifax on November 12.
Hare is from nearby Huddersfield.

Hare on points or late stoppage, I think he's a class above Barnes.

I can't understand why SN are allowing Barnes to travel to Hare's manor for this.

I guess there's no Hatton undercard for them to get involved in so the SN manchester fighters actually have to travel!

Probably the money, Hare will doubtless sell quite a few tickets is Barnes much of a ticket seller?

Just checked the schedule. Facey-McDonagh on the undercard. Both fights were scheduled for the Hatton show.

I lean slightly towards Barnes, who is the one improving. Hare is good but he's no world class prospect.

I have favoured Barnes all along so i suppose i better stick with him now, seems a few others are starting to warm to him as well now...i think he has enough of a dig to upset Hare's rythm and i am going for a Barnes late stoppage as well :TU:

And Barnes is, Kilburn?

Said my opinion on this fight before and it hasn't changed. I think Hare should outclass Barnes but I do hope he is out of the block nice and early I do have this fear about the first 3 rounds. However, Hare by late stoppage or wide unaminous decision.

I just don't think Barnes has shown me anything since the Vincent fight that has shown he is beyond that level. When Magee outclassed Vincent I think it was more an indication of Barnes and Walker's abilities as opposed to Vincent improving drastically from the good journeyman status he has had.

Barnes has looked okay in defending his title, but only okay against opposition who realistically didn't even deserve the opportunity.

Hare might not be world class (although, I think he can still get in there - look what the guy who beat him has done since!). However, he is a step ahead of Barnes from what I have seen.

I wouldn't be surprised if Barnes proves me wrong and upsets Hare, but I can't see him with a chance once Hare has settled into his rhythmn.

I am, but i don't let it get in the way of my fight predictions.

The purple and yellow spotted miniature hammer-head shark to win by KO. I just don't think that a badly folded origami building has decent enough stamina to hang with the shark. That's only my opinion though.

Did I say Barnes was a world class prospect? I just don't like the idea that Hare is somehow a level above Barnes when the first and only time he ventured into world class himself he got beaten conclusively. Sure there is the excuse about him having too many fights in a year, but I can't see how he was ever going to beat Rivera, who was too strong and easily sussed out his style anyway.

I think Barnes has improved, I doubt too many would pick against him in a rematch with Vincent. He knows he can grind out 12 tough rounds if he has to.

Hare is clearly a lovely bloke and I'm sure I'll be rooting for him on the night, but this is a close fight all the same between two of the top domestic welterweights.

Hare beat the best Aussie,Pole,Russian,Hungarian and African.........Barnes did what struggled with both Vincent and Mclarnon, who got beheaded by Duran and whoooped by Bielski.

Hare's very open IMO, whereas Barnes is tighter defensively. Barnes gutted it out against Jimmy Vincent, whereas Hare fell apart against Cosme Rivera (although he did look jaded). In his one fight after that I felt that Hare looked lacking in confidence and still easy to catch.

Hare for me. I think his short punches inside the Manchester man's looping shots will do real damage.

Obviously, he beat him! But you cant compare Hare losing to Rivera with Barnes beating Vincent surely? They're world apart.

Roll on next month, I fancy Hare for a clear win but it will be a good spectacle I hope.

I think i will make the trip over the pennines for this one

I think the only way Barnes will win is if he stops him in the first 4 rounds, if it goes past that then Hare to win on late stoppage or clearly on points

Nope just making the point. Hare does not belong in world class any more than the young Barnes does.

Kilburn, re your reply to me.

Some good points, I just don't see Barnes as even top level domestic class. I still think Barnes would struggle against the likes of Pryce, Dhami and even Saunders (Jennings would beat him convincingly).

I would put the bracket of Sinclair, Khaliq (is he still around?) and Hare significantly above Barnes.

It would be like Jamie McKeever vs a prime Jon Jo Irwin, neither are world class but Irwin was alot better than Jamie.
