What is it with Hennessy fighters and downright arrogance?

P.S. before anyone comes on with the ol' shite about having to be arrogant to get to the top, no you don't, you need confidence, talent and ruthlessness.

I think it has more to do with the Hennessy press team, most of their press releases are very similar, churning out the usual stuff and just attributing the comments to anyone of their fighters

That press release I read on here the other day sounded like a load of b*llocks, and also I don't really see the necessity to circulate things that somebody hasn't actually said - or to relate them in an exaggerated way...eg. Tyson blasted this , Tyson fumed that.......
at least what I've read on this thread actually sounds like something Tyson would say!

I went with British Champ in the vote. I haven't seen Tyson get hit yet, but he doesn't come across as a softie to me, if he did get hit I have no doubt he would fight back, get up and fight back if need be. He's a proud Gypo fighter, I think he would be embarrassed to do owt else.

I would feel a bit stupid predicting anything above Brit title after 3 fights (only one of which I've seen), but he definitely has the attacking ability and physical attributes necessary to get to British level.

Lol he does make me laugh - "5 times better than anyone else in the world right now".....you have to forgive him though he has been raised by a bloke who said "this kid would have boxed the head off George Foreman ". Big Big claims for a novice to make. I don't think Tyson is necessarily arrogant, I think it's just confidence and enthusiasm for the task as much as anything else. It makes you wonder when Tyson's dad accused the Amateurs of overlooking him for Price on account of his son being a traveller (even though Price had beat him and they've picked travellers before), what might be coming out in 5 years if he hasn't got anywhere? Who's fault will it be then?

Me, I like him, he livens things up and who can say that isn't what the Heavyweight scene has been missing. He needs to knock a few more sit ups out for me though, at that age Frank Buno looked like an athlete, Tyson could probably lose a couple of pounds.

People keep reverting back to gypos being really really tough fighters but I have yet to meet one and by that i mean hard as f*ck. Its mostly all mouth from them, i live in Manchester so have met the joyces, mcdonaghs and anyother pikey family people care to mention. They prefer to fight amongst there own than fight other people gorges as they call us or something along them lines.

It's impossible to say how far he will go and we won't even get an idea until he starts fighting a few guys we have heard of - and I don't mean Peret.

Sorry pal. It didn't occur to me that you might have done that bit of research whilst it does seem kind of obvious when looking at it again. Good on you for taking the time to work out the averages.

I didn't do the research. JCS (username here) has access to the database so performed the queries to get the averages. I just quickly chucked the numbers into Excel to see what they look like in a graph.

I agree it's hard to say, he hasn't had enough fights yet, but then in respect to that, the fights he has had have been easy for him, he's not just won, he's dominated. I am looking forward to his chin getting nicely tested!!

Impossible to say really. I am in the minority here, but for a 20-year-old, his power has impressed me a little - he will only start to hit harder. And with his height, reach and weight, it's not impossible for him to go beyond British level. I am excited about him.

It's far too early to predict how far Tyson can go. He has a lot of talent, but is extremely raw and his technique needs an awful lot of work. At the moment, it's a pretty safe bet to say that he will claim the British title in 18 months time or even sooner, but as for aspirations of a European or World title, we will need to see how he develops and it won't be for another few years before that judgement can be made.

It is hard to tell how far he can go so early in his career he has great physical attributes. I would say he will be british champ but not sure how much further he is capable of going. Id love to see himself and price down the line.

I would love to do some nerdy number crunching stuff to produce stats for fights....how would I go about contacting boxrec to do this ? I'd be happy to post any of my findings.

Its early but he looks overrated lacks power carrys his hands low and is fat he keeps saying hes going to lose it but he never does British Champ at most and i wish he would wear shorts that actually fitted him

I really didn't put any effort into it. The guy who did is JCS. I believe he has access to Boxrec's database. So you'd either contact him or John Sheppard. I'd say contact JohnShep.

I'm old enough to remember the fighing Furys from the 1980s, including his dad Gypsy John. On the evidence of them if Tyson makes it to any proper title he will have done remarkably well.

If he had Don King behind him and this was the 1980's - probably about to where Cooney got.

As it is he'll fall somewhere between British and glorious defeat at European level.

But very hard to tell at 20.

At 6-8, if he can get average footwork and a moderate jab he could win a world title.

My last prediction was British level, my first prediction was European. I'm going back to European. I think in time he could get the European belt.
