To me Boxrec is quite mild

East Side Boxing for me - alot more abuse goes on there on Sports Network

Run along to Eastside Boxing then if you prefer forums with limited moderating. All you ever do is spam our forum with dozens of threads about Maccarinelli anyway

Here at boxrec we do have some quality control. For legal reasons we do have to moderate certain topics/posts.

I never said it was a bad thing here at Boxrec.

I dont think having forums like ESB where you can have unlimted hatred for a boxer is anything to be proud of.

There will be no more Maccarenelli threads - I've had my say on the subject.

Obviously I understand why you have to edit certain things - because certain promoters Lawyers keep a eagel eye over things -----

Sorry I can't myself but I need to say this!

Why do certain people when in the corner think they have the right to speak over a trainer!!! A fighters trainer has spent days, months, years with their guy!!! When a fighter is in a corner he needs focus and not the distraction of too many voices! He needs the guy he respects and knows best, giving him instructions!

I think its ok for the other corner men to pass comment to the trainer during a round, but it's important for the fighter to have just the main trainer talking to him at the break!

The reason I say this is because the guy being discussed in this topic is severly guilty of it!!!
I am fed up watching the shows and hearing this guys voice over everbody elses!!!

I know for a fact that he was asked to leave a fighter's corner because he tried to take over during the 1min break!!!
Don't get me wrong am sure he knows his stuff but if I was the trainer I would be severly pissed!!!
Recent example Amir Khan vs Kotelnik! I know he trained him but Freddie is his guy now!!!

That's fair comment! But I feel when the camera is rolling he wants to be in the picture just a bit too much for me! And about the above, as I said before the comment could wait until after the break when he can get enzo's attention! Fighters get put off by getting too many instructions!!!Or even worse cornermen criticising each other!!!

when guys like nigel wright and nathan cleverly box,he does seem to take over.a lot more than when there is a "name" trainer in the corner.great if its constructive,but i have wondered if the main trainer has felt undermined

Here at boxrec we do have some quality control. For legal reasons we do have to moderate certain topics/posts.

I think ESB actually their moderating is over the top strict.

You get certain subjects and your allowed to talk about anyhting - which is good.

But then they can quickly rip threads down and ban you for the most petty reasons.

I have experienced no problems here at Boxrec - and it seems a fair place.

However ESB are a funny old lot...........................

They banned me for months and wont allow me back on - for the most petty reasons

You might say - "Oh its because of all them silly Maccarenelli threads you made" - but this is not the case

Making a Maccarenelli threads breached no rules - and I had stopped making them months before I was banned - as I was just messing about back then.

They ban me for the most petty complaints and reasons.

However most of my posts are well educated posts about boxing - having spent my life around and following the sport I love.

Yet I get banned and wont get let back on.

Meanwhile ESB will allow any lunatic with a ignorance and no respect for boxing and fighters log on and spout a load of crap and hatred on a daily basis about certain fighters. They General Forum is know as a big joke - because of all the crap posters there - always slagging off British fighters.

I've had a bit of fun - and like a joke - but never have I attacked people in a nasty way - the worst I've been is probaly towards Ricky Hatton but that guy justs asks for it.

Adam Booth and David Haye were the subject of some controvesy too - but that was all just fun.

What hope is there if ESB allow any hateful and ignorant posters on their forum and ban a knowlegdeable poster like myself..........................its giving boxing forums a bad name.

I hope Boxrec holds itself to higher and fairer standards

Let me give you a example of the shoddy moderating that lets forums get a bad reputation....................................


On Eastside Boxing General Forum

Full of Ignorant Crap posters most of them Americans always slagging off British fighters................

Calling Joe Calzaghe a fraud and a bum who never fought no-one

Calling Enzo Maccarenelli a glass jawed fraud and that calling him Garbage is a insult to the Garbage

Calling Daivd Haye a homo who and a bitch and this and that....................

Calling Naseem Hamed a this and that and a joke.............

You get the drift - just going out of their way to insult British Boxers and personally / even racial abuse by some morons
and they get to continue posting their garbage


Then I started a thread in the General Forum called

Nigel Benn and Joe Calzaghe never lost to a American

I wanted to name all the Americans they had beat in their combined and records and discuss how good their combined legacys against American fighters was

Combined these guys beat such big name American as.............

Bernard Hopkins
Jeff Lacy
Gerlad McCllellan
Roy Jones Jnr
Charles Brewer
Doug De Witt
Iran Barkely
Bryon Micthell
etc
etc
etc

But no - there was outrage and complaints to the moderators - that I was offending the Americans

And I ended up banned because of that for about 3 Months

All I was trying to do was try and show why Benn and Calzaghe desreve respect by American fight fans for all the good Americnas they face

As the Yanks dont like to believe a British fighter is any good until they have been tested against one of their own.............and then they still refuse to accept it

But there I was banned for making a proper discussion thread about boxing

While the same idiot posters were allowed to go on continuing slagging off British fighters with abse and insults and with no knowledge or repsect for British fighters or British Boxing

Thats terrible example of biased moderating - and no wonder the forums get a bad reputation amongst people in the trade.

Because Powell was mentioning how badly moderated some forums are.

I offered examples of my experience of this which happens to be on ESB forum.

Fortunetaly I have had no such bad experiences with Boxrec and find the forum moderated fairly.

I find it quite disappointing that you have tried to tarnish my posts that are contributing to the subject that this thread is about - about the moderation of forums - mentioned by Dean Powell.

One of the funnies things in the interview was when they gave his age as 43
The guy can`t be a day younger than 55
I`m also pretty sure, he is bothered by the fact he has no fight experience. Some of the guys he mentions as some sort of defence aren`t really doing what he is. Briam Hughes in particular has vast experience from bringing raw novices to championship level. That really speaks for itself. Who has Powell developed?

Us voicing our opinions on here is no different to voicing our opinions in the pub or sat around the canteen table. Except they are free for all to see and add to.

I find them the most up to date about information on fights, etc.

Surely though if a person is mentally strong enough to be a pro boxer and a champion then surely he can handle a bit of critism and slagging off over the internet without it "destroying" him

(not saying its nice but ineviatable that a high profile fighter is going to get flak )

And if he cant handle that - that he didnt have the stuff of champions in the first place.....................

Mr Maloney likes to call us "Anoraks" - he thoroughly enjoys winding people up!! - seems sometimes he reacts adversly when he gets some of that banter back.

But lets get back to Dean Powell - as stated in the other thread just got off the phone to him - he explained himself and I think I did likewise with regards to my adverse reaction to the comment about these forums - this forum in particular is a very good forum indeed - I will disagree with Dean a tadge in that I personally think its extremely well moderated - its difficult to know when to let threads run or when to simply close them - I love a good ruck and debate and will always look for an angle to do so - so its frustrating if a particular thread is close but understand more than most the moderators have a dam difficult job.

Different people have different intellect levels and different ways of expressing themselves - it should not just be left to the clever ones to express their views just because they can do so with big words that I do not understand.

Yes i do regularly read these forums, and i do comment and react to anything on here that i dislike or like. Just because i earn my living from Boxing does not mean i cannot respond to adverse write comments or reports i read on the internet. I find it quite refreshing that a lot of personalities within boxing are now recognising the value of these forums to boxing - I am sure people will also agree the fans have the right to criticise and have opinions even people disagree with them.

Another point is - it is fantastic and always has been many personalities from the boxing world visit these forums - as long as they do not expect to be treated with kid gloves then things will be great - it will however be a very sad day if boxing personalities bleat and disagree to the moderators if there is something they do not quite like.

I am a terrible cynic - with the realisation of personalities that these forums do have value and contribute a great deal to boxing - it will be those personalities who will try to dictate terms on what can and cannot be written on the forums.

Boxrec is a fantastic forum because posters start a thread about whatever they want - the only ones that seem to be closed are a about a certain promoter who crys to his "In house" due to his sensitivity

What is the difference between me writing my opinions or you wannabies writing yours, and just for the record i do believe that internet and its chat forums are the lifeline of boxing as the national press has not seemed to want to cover the sport or the business of professional boxing. All i ask is that if you do attack me in the forum please just make sure you spell my name right!!!

Us 'wannabies' merely love the sport, we (the majority of us) dont make any money from it, certainly contribute to it attending shows etc...and post (mostly honest, if not always eloguently worded) opinions.

We have (generally) no axe to grind. We praise each other, promoters, fighters, networks just as much as we criticise.
