he said he was going to get robbed beforehand.

moaned that the weight, location, ring size all favoured diaz, and that this was "bad for boxing."

i thought he was going to come in negative and quit, but by most accounts he outboxed diaz.

malingaggi a real whiner - after being outclassed by hatton "i'll fight mickey mouse as long as it's in manchester" - he was fvcking lucky to get this chance.

so then the judges come in with off kilter scores, and prove the moaner right.

I like Malignaggi, I think he speaks truths and is quite down to earth. He had the right to be upset there, the fight was close and he took it and its just the politics that robbed him and totally span it round. I mean a couple of the score cards were just a joke.

Assuming that he did get jobbed, like nearly everyone is saying, then the guy's spot-on with what he says. I do feel for him, because I gave him very little chance beforehand in this fight, but going off what people are saying. Malignaggi should've won a UD.

It puts Hatton's display over Malignaggi into another perspective too.

Anyone uploaded this fight? I need to see it.

I predicted Malignaggi would win on another board. Diaz always looked overrated to me. A limited slugger if I ever saw one. Nate campbell easily beat him. Hatton would beat him. malignaggi DID beat him.

But prior to this Malignaggi didn't look great too. Lost against Ngoudjo and N'dou, IMO, and got dismantled against Hatton. Although the lad did prove me wrong by making it closer than I thought possible against Diaz. Shame it looked like he got jobbed.

It's unfair to criticise Malignaggi in this situation. He did edge the fight, just. The biggest problem with this fight is the scorecard of 118-110 by Gale Van Hoy. They should be fired and investigated.

Malignaggi's post fight speech was wicked. I don't like watching him fight very much, but I'm completely on his side for this.

By the way, that's two horrendous decisions, IMO, in Houston in the last few months. No way did Juarez deserve a draw against John.

Houston/Texas = :shame:

And the Yanks say we rob people = :-?

Was a great fight, malignaggi was awsome in the first round, and paulie won that fight, stayed up till 6am to watch him get robbed, but the fight was great.

Bloody hell Diaz is fast unravelling. Think its time he hung em up if he's reduced to scraping decisions over punchbags like ole Feather-Touch.

perhaps the judges scored against him, because before the fight he pissed them off, saying that diaz would get every advantage, be given every benefit of the doubt?

It was a stupid fight to take. Diaz should be fighting at a much lower weight, not fighting a legitimate light welter. If Juan Diaz went down to super featherweight you'd see him kick some butt.

definitely. he's a pudgy lightweight, he falls apart if he can't bully a fighter, then fights a tricky light welter. bad move.

last time he fought at light welter i believe he was dropped, and burst out crying in the post fight interview.

I am still a Baby Bull fan despite this latest off colour showing.

Paulie was a bad match up for him style-wise, as others have mentioned, and I think he is young enough and fresh enough to comeback at lightweight and do some damage.

Gotta love his high octane style - he brings excitement in bucket loads.

Downloaded last night's fight and have onlt watched it in snatches but I wasn't left with the impression that Diaz is damaged goods..

Echo the sentiments here - Diaz down at super-feather would smash some heads, but I doubt the fat arse can be bothered to get down there.

People are a little harsh on Diaz for carrying a little flesh - it doesnt seem to affect his engine,so who cares?

Boxing isn't a bathing suit contest (at least it wasn't last time I checked..) Plenty of great, great fighters have lacked the 'ripped' appearance that some fee all boxers should have - hell, Larry Holmes had 'women's hips' but it didn't stop him from posting a Hall of Fame career did it??

I think Diaz should also get props for establishing himself as a legitimate world title holder whilst completing a full time degree - that in itself must take some doing.

I know or own Darren Sutherland and Nathan Cleverly have both under taken similar routes whilst boxing but to win a 'world' professional title whilst hitting the books as well as the heavy bag is a commendable achievement :TU:

Actually the fight was really close and, if like me you don't like Paulie's smothering and holding, I can see why you'd give it to Diaz. He wasn't robbed, it was just that ridiculous scorecard from Van Hoy. I actually think Paulie brought it on himself with that pre-fight moaning - what else could the judges do?

He had every right to complain about the judges. If in the Liverpool game tomorrow night all the officials were Liverpool fans or the umpire in the Ashes were all English people would complain.
Paulie's complaints and then the 118-110 scorecard only reinforce the bias of the whole thing.
Honestly what did Diaz do after round 6? I'd give him 3 of those rounds and maybe 1 after that but he didn't do anything, he landed nothing of note and was just outjabbed by Maliganaggi who controlled the fight.
I like Diaz but he didn't deserve the win let alone the UD.
