I once knew a girl who was born in October, worked in a library, came from northern Africa, and was always very generous.
You could say she was a liberal libran Liberian librarian.

If only i knew what it meant. A big "what did you just call me?" is probably in order.stujones wrote:BASTARDS 3 - Cymru 0glittermonkey wrote:What's England 3 - Wales 0 in your native tongue Stu?stujones wrote:Penblwydd Hapus, Guest.
Getting ready for the big game!
Happy Birthday in my native tongue.![]()
Only Joking - you lot are Lloegr.
Ond mae Cymru yn mynd i enill y gem.
For the record, i think it might be a lot closer than 3-0. But i do think my country will just shade it.
Lleogr = England.
I think its obvious what I said at the end.
But Wales will win the game.
Seriously, I think its going to be close - I do worry about our division 1 defence, including a goalie who is making Dai James look like Schmeichel currently.
I think we have the edge in Midfield (seriously) and our full backs are pretty good. I think Davies and Giggs are both better than Beckham and AN OTHER and could cause Cole and the right back some problems.
I would like to see Earnie and Bellamy up front to challenge Campbell and Terry (if Rio is on the bench, which I hope he is) apparent lack of pace. Hughes is a big Hartson fan, but I think he is going to get munched by the pair of them.
However, Gabbidon and Melville vs Rooney and AN OTHER is what I fear. Gabbidon will do okay, but Melville is getting on.
Speed, Koumas/Pembridge, Giggs and Davies is the key to the game.

I'd disagree that your midfield is better. On better form, yes easily, but more talented, i'm not so sure. Giggs is better than Joe Cole (who'll play i reckon), but Beckham if he manages to find the form he's shown in the past is far better than Davies, which is no slur on him, i've always rated the guy. I was even hopeful that the rumours were true about him moving to Liverpool a few years ago. In the centre, if Gerrard was playing i'd be much more confident, but it'll be pretty even whoever gets the nod. It Koumas that i'd worry about. He always seems very lightweight and doesn't really get through enough defensive work, he's a poor mans version of Joe Cole.
I like Gabbidon, he plays in the 1st division, but i think he could easily cut it at the top level. It's just a question of someone taking that chance on him, because i can't envisage Cardiff getting promoted any time soon. I don't fancy Melville's chances against Rooney or Defoe though, he's going to have a tough time.
Agree though, the midfield will definitely be the key. I wonder who the ref is, if he's one of the more picky European refs there might be cards galore. I hope that's not the case because it should be a good game.

I agree on Koumas, thats why I said him or Pembridge - most experts are saying it will be Koumas I want it to be Pembridge. Whilst Pembridge is no great shakes I think he still better than Koumas (sorry Baggies fans).glittermonkey wrote:I'd disagree that your midfield is better. Perhaps Beckham on his day is better than Davies, but I certainly think Davies would have had a fair few number of England caps. I think Davies' superior ability to come forward and to beat people make him Wales' biggest threat - I don't see Beckham as England's main threat. I'd give Speed the edge (even at his age) over Butt, but Lampard is obviously better than whoever we pick.
There is talk of Delaney (who is one of the most underated players in the premiership) shifting to the centre to try and accomidate Rooney, but then the right side of defence is a huge problem. This is what cost us away to Italy (we had Davies trying to go there). Even the very average Rhys Western is unavailable, I wouldn't even know who could play there. Darren Barnard is playing for the conference! I don't know if he is in the squad, but he might be the only option if Hughes choses that route.
Its unfortunate for us that Savage is unavailable, while he gets ridiculed he is a top player in my opinion.
