How many people are going around saying Pacquiao is going to move up and dethrone Morales? If that's what everyone is saying I apologise. If it isn't then how is it a huge downfall if he loses?

No wasnt necessarily saying this, but it was being mooted prior to Morales Barerra III mate. In fact I seem to remember Pacman was pissed at the fact Morales and top rank had done a swerve, agreed the fight wouldnt be at Feather as there isnt a cat in hells chance of Eric making the weight.

I dunno Ive heard a lot of people carry on about Pacman like he is the second coming of Salvador Sanchez, that Marquez suffered a beat down in their match and how did they give it a draw. I agree how did they give it a draw but Marquez was the hard done by fighter on my card by some two rounds.

You might not see it here (brit scene) so much Kil but in the current scene and other sites there is a bit of a pro Pacman crew in the same way that Vitali is some kinda boxing god. We know which sites these are and they are best to be avoided but it is still going on mate.

Okay okay I don't tend to venture too far from this forum so I wouldn't know about those morons. The only reason I get narked when someone says "oh so & so is shit and this fighter was all hype etc etc" is because it makes you feel like if you've ever given these particular boxers credit for anything then you're being called a silly pudendum.

Ricardo Mayorga is what he is. But that's not all crap. Nothing like it.

no mate I woudlnt say Mayoarga was crap at all, I think he made the most of what he had technically and more than made up for it by his aggression and determination. He was just a different type of fighter based on animilistic instincts, hard as nails and a nutter. A warrior.

to call him rubbish is just bloody stupid I agree.

At the end of the day you know you would be in for a hard fight with Ricardo, Id rather fight Spinks than that guy, Mayorga is world class jeez to say otherwise is pure folly.

No way in hell does Pacman do Morales over. As he moves up, his power and speed will begin to desert him, and Morales is looking better than ever, obviously benefitting from the move up in weight. Not saying Morales is unbeatable, but Manny's style leaves him open to fighters with good timing.

Take away the 1st round against Marquez, and Manny got schooled, hardly landed anything for the majority of the fight, lots of bopping about and lots of shots thrown but very little landed.

If you watch the fight closely, you will see that even the 2nd round was very evenly contested and towards the end, Marquez was giving him some big licks.

From then on, Marquez pretty much sussed Pacquaio's style, who knows whether the blisters on his feet hampered his movement as much as he says, but Manny's style is pretty simple anyway, reminds me of a mini-mosley, herky-jerky style with fast power shots, but not a lot of finesse.

I think Morales will stop Pacman if they meet, he's got an iron-clad jaw and he can really bang and Pacman was getting nailed and looked ragged and hurt against Marquez, who is a much smaller man than Morales.

agreed james, cant see Pacman beating morales but that doesnt make any difference to some people, Pacman beat up barerra who has a win on his record over Morales therefore it s aforegone conclusion that Pacman beats Morales.

cue audible groan.

Youve had the same discussion with some posters here about Danny losing to Sinal Sam, which means that Sam is a sure bet to beat tyson etc etc etc boring blah blah blah

The fact is he beat Forrest and thats it yet everyone was going crazy for what in reality was and is a limited and one dimensional banger...

I have never been happier at a fighters downfall than I am at Mayorgas it irked me that he had got where he had with such an obvious lack of talent...

Pacquaio will fall in much the same way I guarantee it.

Well maybe we were reading different websites mate because I certainly don't remember thread after thread of Mayorga lovers predicting all kinds of big scalps for him. I think you're making a big thing out of what a small minority of clueless people said in a blur of excitement.

And in any case why do you make this comparison with Pacquiao? Is he being hyped as the next undisputed super-featherweight champion? Not that I've noticed. So considering that no other featherweight out there other than Marquez has a realistic chance of beating him where is this huge downfall going to come from?

Again same thing...read the websites mate...When Pacman beat Barrera everyone was going on about how good he is etc....

Cant be bothered to go into it as got shit to do but its fairly straight forward to me...cant see where the confusion is...anyway later..

Don't get me wrong, Pacman is a bloody good fighter, and I personally think that Barrera's style would always have played into his hands to some degree, Pacman is very quick, agile and hits very very hard. However, in his prime, I think Barrera would have been too much and have edged a points decision.

However, beating a jaded Barrera isn't the same as beating a bigger and nearer his peak Morales. Morales is looking very solid at his new weight, and I think he's going to look every better if and when he moves up to fight Corrales or whoever.

I also think that the 7 inch reach advantage will be a big problem for Manny, because Manny was continually caught on the way in against Marquez, despite flooring him three times and rattling him up. Morales is a good straight shooter and is brutal when he sees an opening, he's physically bigger and probably stronger than Manny.

I think Manny may score a flash knockdown, but I don't think he will be able to hit him hard enough often enough to keep Morales down if they meet.

Basically the point I am trying to make albeit unsuccessfully..

Is that Mayorga beats Forrest and Pacquaio beats Barrera and then posters are jumping on their bandwagons more the yanks than British posters granted but I said all along that these guys have done nothing special and being grossly over-rated on the basis of one or two wins...

Forrest IMO isnt a particularly impressive victory anyway as I have never rated him and I knew that if Spinks didnt beat him the next big fight Mayorga was in he would lose which he did.

Pacquaio yes he beat Barrera but Barrera didnt look himself to me at all physically and I really dont think Pacquaio is so great yet both of the above are being touted as P4P fighters and mentioned in the same breath as the divisions elite...admittedly in Mannys case he is one of the best in the division but IMO there is no great fighter in that division...But the real elite fighters like Morales would IMO smash Manny without much trouble much the same as Mayorga has been beaten by Spinks and Trinidad...

Maybe my hatred for Mayorga is clouding my judgement somewhat...but usually I am pretty impartial and look at a fighter from an neutral perspective and no matter how I look at it Mayorga is an over-hyped,over-rated,limited one dimensional fighter.

Okay no worries. It's just to me an overrated/over hyped fighter is someone who has got all the top boxing writers and people in the trade wetting themselves for what turns out to be no reason. It's no real achievement to have outsmarted a few dumb internet posters.
