Whos at Couser Vs Leapai next Friday?

Post by N2 Shape »

I'll be there with my man Cliff. He arrives in OZ this Sunday so will have a full week to aclimatise and get settled as opposed to the 12 hours he had before Hoppa!

Cliff is fit and been training hard for this fight as hes had a good 6 weeks notice. Now im not saying hes going to beat Alex but if Alex fights like he did against the Japanese heavy he could be in for a tougher night at the office than expected. In all honestly Alex should be getting guys like Couser out of there inside 3 rounds if not 2!

A very astute assessment of what should happen nz. Leapai's solid , but not startling results leave me puzzled at how highly some people on this and other forums rate him.

Just calling it how i see it. On the night we are gunning for the upset but Alex is the younger more hungary fighter Cliff is past his useby date but will make you look bad (Haumono fight) if you underestimate him. ALl the pressure in os Alex he needs to win and win well after his last performance. You can ttake away the names on Cliffs resume hes been in there with the best of them, so Alex wont bring anyhting he hasnt seen before.............we have a plan for the fight and if Cliff can weather the early storm and stick to the plan he'll give Alex a tough nights work

Not a good enough card for me to cross the border. I could tell you all the results now, and i rarely go to cards where i can predict the outcomes.

If he keeps getting ko'd there will be no profit or money to be made by bringing him here...when he first came it was good coz he's got a big profile so he sells tickets. Now everyone sees he's just a bum so it's gettin harder and harder to sell

He was the first guy to ever go the distance with Solo. Andhad he been given more time ot adjust to the travel, and aclimatise as opposed to fighting the day he arrived in the country like he did against Hoppa he may have performed better there.

CLiff if a journyman always has been, but hes showing against Leapai is make or break for him. Win then he wil no doubt earn some more fights in OZ. a Loss spells the end of the road for his career in my mind.

Well, depends on the manner of the loss. A KO in 1-3 would be as you said, but a game longer fight a la Haumono shouldn't do his earning potential any harm. At least he has some time to acclimatise and prepare for this one, and I'm not sure Leapai is any better than Solo. IF Cliff still has it in him to win, then this is the best chance he's going to get at this stage.

Couser has retired. Hes gone out in disappointing fashion however by missing his flights to OZ without saying a word to anyone about it. If he hadnt been contacted I believe he would have made no effort to contact the right people involved which is unprofessional to say the least. He had one last opportunity to go out fighting next Friday............but took the cowards route all that was needed was a simple phone call to say "look sorry IM retiring"

Very disappointing for all involved but from someone with first hand knowledge in delaing with Cliff it is about time he did hang up the gloves hopefully one and for all.

Wow not even a fonecall? That's low.

On facebook he was moaning about dealing with dodgy managers and promoters lately and being ripped off financially.

Not even a phone call mate.

His moans are mostly his own damn fault. He turns things onto others ot make him look like the good guy being screwed, when really its us matchmakers hes screwing by not showing up to fights hes agreed on. He pulled out of a fight with Derrick Rossey in much the same manner within the last year also.

Hes a liability, and a product of his own unprofessional behaviour.

Apparently danny green is a pretty average sparrer, he sparrs much different than the way he fights, kostya tszyu use to only use 10% of his abilty in sparring, but you would have to say alex is a better boxer, alex is a good heavyweight by world a standards, edwards hasn't been a dedicated boxer, maybe he is now i don't know

Such little interest that you didn't even read the fight's off!

N2Shape, sorry to hear you got messed around. I'm surprised he did this, though, as he does genuinely enjoy fighting abroad.

I guess he's just had enough, but any comments about dodgy matchmakers/managers etc I don't think were directed at you. He said he wanted to fight overseas because it was the US promoters who messed him around.
