How far behind are we ???

Post by amwsnw »

I see over on Current scene that the Mayweather Marquez fight is being shown in picture theatres. How awesome!! Here I am battling to find anywhere within 250 kms that is actually showing the fight live and they are having it in theatres!! God bless America.

With all the shite channels on Fox, you think we could at least get HBO or showtime added to the foxtel sports channels.

as for main event choosing to show the ufc instead of the mayweather fight - that obviously shows that ufc events gets more buys than boxing in this country. and main event are just choosing to go where the more money is.
but didnt they choose to show darchinyan over ufc 100? or was ufc 100 live here? they should just be able to put both on somehow when theres 2 big fights, just put them on a different channel somehow. as foxtel own 33% of main event anyway.

Mate it is because the Mayweather fight was pushed back and UFC was already booked for that day. It has nothing to do with UFC getting more buys...

Its because Mayweather re-scheduled the fight and Main Event already has a contract to show it live. the boxing would get alot more buys because alot of the older generation prefer boxing then 2 blokes rolling around gropping each other for 5 min rounds.

I remember they used to show WWF main events at the theaters

Vic was live.
UFC 100, which was billed as the greatest UFC event of all time, with a card better than any ever put together, was on delay !!
I would be very surprised if the UFC out did boxing on PPV sales in Australia. Comparing the top gigs that is. Shit boxing cards will get less buys than good ufc cards and vice versa. In this case the JMM PBF card shits all over the UFC card.
And as already stated, you would think that somehow with allt he channels available we could get it on one of the fox channels. Also, why can't they have two ppv events on the same day and just alternate the events throughout the day......as you can tell I am frustrated. This was the biggest card of the year as far as I was concerned and I have to wait two days !!!

The thing is, you'll actually find out the result before it's on main event.

i can barely manage a day without checking the results, or getting a text message from someone spoiling it etc.

theres no way i can manage 2 days...

if i dont get a live stream that doesnt buffer every 4 seconds then ill just follow the pbf-marquez fight on a rbr.

in the past ive got my brother (who lives in england) to put the fone next to the tv speakers.

even radio 5 live, which has awesome boxing commentary for all big fights, wont let you listen live from outside the uk

if you have Foxtel, i think sky lets you purchase sky boxing for 44.95 a week (what pubs have)....so really if you purchase it have it for that week and cancel it you would of paid that money to main event for the fight.

i dont know if sky let you do it thou, worth a shot thou right!!!!!
