I saw this fight again just a few days ago. I didn't keep score, but Hearns clearly won. If it had been fifteen rounds Leonard would have probably stopped him again.

Hearns Vs Leonard II Round 1

I love this fight and have watche dit a lot though yet to score it.
I am excited :)

The War !!

I like Hearns' jab and his right to the body. Leonard is tentative and
reluctant to engage. Nice right by Ray, Hearns is focused though.
Hearns was the more consistent.

Round 2

Hearns is extending the jab, unable to find the fleet footed Ray. Leonard
is only able to land that right to the body. Alot of right hands missed by
both guys. A close round, but Hearns jab clinched it for me.

Hearns jab is working better now. I like it. Leonard is trying
to move, get inside, but its hard. Hearns is nearing the right
hand...getting closer. Leonard is landing some more now, getting
his own range. Nice right by Ray as a counter, followed by a
nice right from Hearns that gets Ray down.
Hearns on the attack....Hearns now the patient hunter killer, as
Ray does his best to come back.

Round 5

Hearns started the round still looking on top until about 60 seconds in when he got rocked badly by a left hook. He was hanging on for dear life. Leonard dominated the rest of the round but Hearns kept himself together and got through to the end of the round without too much more damage.

Could it be 10-8? Sure, but I wanted to give Hearns credit for (1) dominating the first minute (2) staying on his feet after getting wobbled and (3) trying to fight back in the last minute. The 10 point must system is weak in this area. There is too much variance in what a 10-9 can be.

Quiet round. Hearns busier and more accurate. Leonard looking for one big shot, it seems.

Hearns is more consistent with his jab. Leonard looks for that over hand right,
and musters a small flurry. Hearns has more flesh at the end of the leather
this round and dominates it again.

Early on its Hearns jab that is maintaining control and the pace.
Leonard seems to continue to struggle wit Hearns reach and sting.
Leonard wobbles Hearns, goes for the kill. Hearns does his best
to stay up and come back, but Leonard is landing hard shots.
Hearns still manages to ban left hooks to body and head while Leonard
has him on the ropes.

Round 6

Both guys are more cautious and tentattive, though it is Hearns with
his jab that maintains control. A much slower round which has Hearns
control the distance, and Leonard struggling to find the range.

Both guys looking tired.

Hearns made a good start, even appearing to stun Leonard for a second but Leonard took over and was well on top at the end of the round.

Hard round to score.

I'll give it to Leonard by a bee's dick.

The first two minutes was the battle of the (mostly falling short) jabs.

Hearns finally got a hard one in with a right hand behind it; that nicked it for him on my card in a round where not a lot happened.

Leonard did some damage in this rounds and Hearns started to look in danger.

Hearns on the move early, traps Ray on the ropes, he lands some
good shots. Nice body blow. In the rings centre a stationary Hearns
is open to Ray, but Hearns still holds his own.
Hearns is slowing and Ray does his best to make a come back, landing
some good flurries. Hearns strong early, Ray flfurries well late.
Close round.

10-10 even


Round 8

Hearns is following Ray with his jab. Ray is giving up ground without anything
more than a missing jab. A deuel of missing jabs for the first half of the round.
Hearns reaches with two right hands from far, and bangs the body nice, backs
Ray up. Hearns start to find some range. Ray does a light flurry. Hearns lands
a short right, that backs Ray up. ..or he pushes him ;)

Anyone tell me who that NSAC dude is that is watching the action in
the Leonard corner ???

Hearns seems to be sitting over his back leg a little to much as this
round commences. Ray lands some low ones, as he tries to land the
left hook to the liver. Ray is playing the aggressor as Hearns sits back and
tries to counter. Ray is landing more, but seems to be lunging in with
his combos. Both tangle up on the inside, letting their hands go. Ray
looks the better. Hearns comes back with a nice right, Ray pops some
upper cuts nicely as Hearns leans in, Hearns wobbled by a well placed
Ray left hook. Ray goes to work, but is unable to land anything.

Round 10

Ray goes onto the attack from the start, Hearns seems wobbly on his
legs. Both guys circle and exchange single shots. Ray's jab is now starting
to land. Ray's right to the body is the more consistent of his tools. Ray is
looking for the long right over Hearns left hand.

Round 11

Ray is finding his range better now. Hearns is standing still and taking
flurries on the inside, notably the left hook at the end of a series.
After missing one, Hearns lands a right hand flush, and another to drop
Ray.
Hearns throws the right wild and is countered with a left hook by Ray.
Hearns is stalking Ray now and is able to land some more right hands,
some short. Ray is able to land some left hooks, as does Hearns. Though
it is Ray's left hook he is able to land well, though he looks for that long
right hand all the time..

Round 12.

On my score card Ray needs a KO to win !

Hearns is using the jab again early and his hands are moving well, keeping
Ray out of it. Nice long range right lead from Hearns, followed up by a
good flow of straight shots right down the pipeline.
Ray backs Hearns up and has him on the ropes, though brief he is desperate
to rally. Ray spurts and lands some left hooks that backs Hearns up.
Ray has Hearns on his back foot, blasts out the spurts, Hearns is firing back
however. Hearns in a corner is taking shots, that left hook from Ray is
landing. Hearns is on wobbly stilts now. Leonard desperate to finish Hearns.
