Ian Jacobs
Ian Jacobs
Note on the schedule that Ian Jacobs is to fight William Hadlow in Logan Queensland in an eight rounder on September 19.
Jacobs seems to be a newcomer to boxing. Is anybody familiar with him? Was he a "kick boxer"?

Re: Ian Jacobs
Yes he is a former Kickboxing world champion, getting pretty old now though.
Re: Ian Jacobs
Hadlow may not be the flashest boxer in the country, but he has had a lot of fights. I thought it odd that a debutant would be thrown in with him in an eight rounder.
Re: Ian Jacobs
Are there any kickboxers who aren't former world champions?
Re: Ian Jacobs
Yeah there is a kid in my street that is only an international champion. He lost the world title shot to another kid im street.l

Just like boxing there's a handful of alphabet titles around. Plus you've got kickboxing and muay thai, so that doubles the alphabet.
Re: Ian Jacobs
ian is 39yo and was a real triple world champion,he beast the likes of gurkan ozkan and sam soliman, hasnt boxed before but is tough and strong and moves well ,spared with danny green last month and went realy well, the reason for fighting hadlow 1st up is he noes if going to go anywere he has to make a statement and hadlow is a true test 1st up but if he beats him people will give him a wrap and he can take the next step,if he loses then will pack it up,predictions jacobs win ko.
Re: Ian Jacobs
Jacobs is a legend
It is a real shame he didn't start boxing years ago, he could have become a real star, who knows he might still have enough time, look how old hopkins is and is going great, some people thought he beat joe calzaghe

Re: Ian Jacobs
His fight against Gurkan Ozkan was a classic

Re: Ian Jacobs
Dont put Jacobs in Hopkins class. William Hadlow will be Jacobs first and last boxing fight.
Re: Ian Jacobs
Jacobs is prob the best kickboxer Australia has ever had. He never lost a fight and beat the best there was.
I use to see him and Paul Briggs training all the time. Never forget the big KO he gave my trainer in a Pro fight. Massive left hook to the head.

No not putting him in hopkins class, jacobs has a good chin and workrate like pavlik, he could become another pavlik, maybe he is showing age now i don't know, have to wait and see
Re: Ian Jacobs
Ian can not only take a punch, he's a pretty hard core trainer too. I've been to his gym and he uses car tyres for punching instead of a bag.
William may beat him, but he would be a fool to walk into this fight underestimating him by thinking he is just like any other 39yo, or former kickboxer.

Some kickboxers have gone pretty good in boxing, briggs, dawson, parr, parr lost a decision to nader, i seen the fight i thought he might have won, bruce mcfee isn't going so well at boxing but unlike mcfee jacobs will throw more than 2 punches a round
Re: Ian Jacobs
Mcfee's problems aren't output of punch's it's how many he recieves
Briggs is the only Kickboxer I know who has a proven successful career in boxing, Dawson hasn't convinced me of anything yet.

Vitali klitschko was a kickboxer
Ben edwards might go ok if he sticks at it, he has a good chin, he throws a lot of punches and hits very hard, maybe even harder than any boxer in australia, ben has 1 punch ko power
I don't know, most his fights i have watched went 1 round, if he fights a good boxer who has the skills to avoid his bombs in the 1st few rounds who knows what will happen, he might gas and get ko'd himself, in boxing it isn't wise to waste all your energy in the 1st round, he went all out on hopoate in the 1st round, i surpose it was because hopoate was coming forward trying to take his head off, if he fought mirovic or someone he would probably fight at a slower pace
Re: Ian Jacobs
Agree, i think Ben Edwards could have one of the biggest future's out of the Heavyweights in Australia.
Didn't know that about Vatali...cool.

Sam Soliman has had a pretty fair boxing career. He was a kickboxer.Hounddawg wrote:Mcfee's problems aren't output of punch's it's how many he recieves![]()

Re: Ian Jacobs
Yes Sam is a good boxer. Should of kept my mouth closed, aimed more at Dawson not pushing himself, time to step up.
Re: Ian Jacobs
I suppose it would only be fair to say that as an amateur boxer Sam had 95 fights for 81 wins, so he had a lot of experience before he turned pro.Hounddawg wrote:Yes Sam is a good boxer. Should of kept my mouth closed, aimed more at Dawson not pushing himself, time to step up.

Who was he sparring!!!!
Whoever it was he must have had some serious power, ian is a very tough guy, he went the distance with Gurkan Ozkan, he took some pretty good shots, mundine used ozkan as a sparring partner in preparation for his fight with antwun echols, he said that he is a lion
Re: Ian Jacobs
Promoter Rob Leguier didn't say
Re: Ian Jacobs
It was a tag team of houndawg and adamhieght.
