Hello mate, have you got me confused with someone else? In my post all I did was say I agree with your comments - I didn't make any reference to Cleverley at all.Spud wrote:Hello Deserter,
To be honest whilst I think Cleverly is a talent - I do not see the point in Clinton fighting him - the maximum he would get offered is around £20k - £40k and that is top whack and Clinton does not need to get in the ring for that sort of money - it would take a serious 6 figure sum and lets face it that will not happen!!! - Even if that 6 figure sum was offered I believe I know Clinton and I still think he would turn it down.

Re: Woods and Cloud make the weight
How many more times does it have to be explained - as far as it is possible to tell - Clinton Woods will not fight at domestic level - it really is pointless to speculate otherwise - unless a very clear unequivocal statement comes out to the contrary!!!
Clinton Woods will not be fighting Nathan Cleverly - he will probably retire - he does not need money on offer for what will be a domestic bout.
Re: Woods and Cloud make the weight
It could be a world title eliminator as well as a British, Commonwealth and possibly a European title fight.Spud wrote:How many more times does it have to be explained - as far as it is possible to tell - Clinton Woods will not fight at domestic level - it really is pointless to speculate otherwise - unless a very clear unequivocal statement comes out to the contrary!!!

Nathan Cleverly is currently ranked 6th with the WBO, 10th with the IBF, 11th with the WBC and 15th with the WBA. Clinton Woods is currently ranked 1 in the European rankings and Cleverly is ranked at 3.
In a few months time Cleverly could be ranked higher with these organizations, and Woods is likely to be ranked fairly high with some or all of the big four world bodies. A world title eliminator of some sort, a decent amount of money and a winnable fight might appeal to Woods.
Re: Woods and Cloud make the weight
I may be in the minority but I'm not sure Cleverly IS a winnable fight for Woods. Cloud had too much energy for Woods who, for me, would have beaten the hard-hitting though technically limited Cloud five years ago (i.e. the Woods of 5 years ago against the Cloud of last weekend). Cleverly has no discernible faults so far – sure, he's yet to operate beyond domestic level but last season he beat the No. 2 and No. 3 in his division and in emphatic style. He is strong, fit, throws lots of shots, is very tall for the weight, rangy, can punch, can take a shot and is adaptable. As he steps up in levels, hitherto unseen weaknesses may materialise but the Woods who lost – bravely, but clearly – to Cloud – who had yet to go beyond domestic level pre-Gonzalez – would lose to Cleverly.Horse wrote:It could be a world title eliminator as well as a British, Commonwealth and possibly a European title fight.Spud wrote:How many more times does it have to be explained - as far as it is possible to tell - Clinton Woods will not fight at domestic level - it really is pointless to speculate otherwise - unless a very clear unequivocal statement comes out to the contrary!!!

Thought Woods won the European Title Ten years ago, surely thats beyond Domestic.
