Percy Hayles
Hi,
Living in Australia we were lucky enough to see
Percy Hayles come to Australia and win or defend
I am not too sure what the Commonwealth title
on points from Aussie Jeff White. The styles were ideally
suited, a flashy fighter with fast hands and feet against
a raw peekaboo hard punching fighter in White with
Hayles winning a fairly close decision.
I saw some of the other fighters you mention all in
losses to the lightning fast Aussie Tony Mundine
(father to the big talking Anthony Mundine). Percy
also beat a favourite fighter of mine in that era
Manny Santos but I was unable to see it.
I have taken the liberty of listing a few fights below
of these fighters to bring back some memories....
