Inspired by another thread, and specifically a comment by Datsue, but lets find out who has fought the most ridiculously high level competition, win or lose.

Lets start with Datsue's reference to Paul Lloyd, fighting among others Barerra and Tim Austin.

Interesting thread this - it depends which slant you want to put on it - if you say who has fought in the best company "win or lose" - perhaps you could look at some of the more experienced joruneymen - Peter Buckley springs to mind. If you look at things with a different view point - believe it or not I honestly believe Ricky Hatton has fought some very good opponents in the later part of his career.

modern day,cotto has impressed me and manny pacquiao with their quality of opposition

i know he lost to them but fighting modern greats such as mosley,hopkins and trinidad impressed me.oscar could have fought poor to mediocre opposition for still large paychecks due to his popularity

It was a painful fight to watch Mickey, I was definitely in favour of it being stopped. I suppose with Wayne pride it was always going to be difficult but he should have been saved from himself.
Imo he was being beaten up far worse than in the 2nd Larios fight where he had his moments

I agree with you Spud, Hatton has some massive names on his record for a Brit but if anyone goes into it in more detail then they will all come out of the woodwork and before you know you'll have 6 pages of repetitive rubbish

I agree with both of you, Lenny & Mickey -- I had to stop watching Wayne after the ninth round of the Harrison fight. I really respect the bloke & I always liked him (fighting Victor Rabanales -- major badass -- in about his tenth fight, going over to Japan (!) to beat Yakushiji etc, he had balls the size of Audley Harrison) but I stopped watching that fight & couldn't follow his career afterwards.

But he gets my vote for the European fighter who faced the best opposition, off the top of my head, of certainly the last I dunno, thirty years?

Shame there was no Bowe included in this list.

A good shout from a British perspective, although I think Hatton edges it - Tszyu, Castillo, Urango, Malignaggi, Maussa, Collazo, Pacquiao, Mayweather - not bad really.

A shame there is no Bowe or Moorer on the Lewis resume, and Tyson/Holyfield came at the slightly wrong time.

Think I left some people who went on to briefly reign out. I don't know if Salud actually won a title, he was knocking on the door for years though. I mentioned him cause that was used as a "comeback"/tune up after Morales defeat (fight 1) - thats some tough tune up, but Barrera won as comfortably as you'll see a SN/FW fighter win after a defeat (and you know the opposition they typically have). Salud was a fantastic fighter in his own right.

nice thread and very interesting. personally im not interested in the short route journeymen collecting names and hiding in a box for 3 minutes. im considering this thread to be about proper fights over proper distances against real named fighters, whether shot or not !!

Trevor Berbick is a good shout, he has mixed it with......in my perceived order of importance...
