Harrison currently is slated to face Samuel Kebede and Sports Network has not confirmed any change in opponent, however Fightnews has learned that moments ago, Smalls faxed a signed contract back to promoter allegedly/Sports Network. According to the Smalls camp, Warren called Smalls' manager/sister Iris Smalls to offer Tiger the title shot. Smalls, (20-7-1, 9 KO's) from San Diego, CA by way of Freeport, NY, has won his last three bouts in a row, including his dominating performance over Alvin Brown in Kansas City, MO last month in winning the NABO belt. This is Harrison's third title defense since winning back the title from former world champion, Manuel Medina.

Knew one SN fight would fall through this month. Thought it would be Alex Arthur-Eric Odumasi though.
Yeah, under closer scrutiny this fight doesn't hold up. Smalls is 34 and hasn't stopped a man genuinely since 1999.
In his last fight, he outpointed Alvin Brown in a 12-rounder - Brown was blown away in two rounds by William Abelyan.
This is just pointless, it's not even as if Smalls is going to give Harrison something he's never seen before. He won't learn anything, it'll be (as deal said) a mismatch. I've heard of keep-busy fights, but for a man who's intention is to fight in world class, this is poor.
But, i suppose, it's no worse an opponent than Estrada, and we got a good little fight from that one.

Fightnews.com is reporting that it will instead be Priest “Tiger” Smalls (17-7-1, 6 KOs), and a source close to Kebede in Sweden confirms the pull-out to Teddy´s TKO´s. Also, one insider in England says that the change of opponent was due to Kebede wanting more money than he had first accepted, and this made Sports Network look for a new foe for Harrison. It looks like this is another case of a Scandinavian boxer pricing himself out of his life’s greatest opportunity, although this is not officially confirmed as the reason.
Dissapointing, i wonder how many more will fall through. Still be good to see Harrison smash to an early KO although i agree this will do nothing for his career
I suppoose we should be used to this by now. SN fighter in 'keep busy' fight against mediocre opponent, said opponent puls out, and we're left with an even worse matchup. One of these days, this is going to turn out horribly wrong, possibly an upset KO or maybe worse, and then maybe certain promoters will stop feeding us these woeful mismatches.

WBO feather champ Scott Harrison´s defence against Swede by way of Ethiopia Samuel Kebede set for October 29 in Glasgow is now finally confirmed and on. Kebede has been training for full speed in Stockholm for the last few weeks but haven´t been able to concentrate 100% due to his contractual problems with his former promoter, the now defunct Modern Sports & Events, but this is now out of the way and Samuel is raring to go. Sparring haven´t been too good but trainer Leif Carlsson have brought in everyone possible in the Stockholm region to help his fighter reach top shape. -We want someone who can pressure Samuel the way we know Harrison will pressure him, says Leif. -At the same time I feel Scott´s style fits my guy pretty good.
Smalls' best wins are against Christian Favela (who upset Willie Jorrin not long ago); Alvin Brown (only two "notable" wins over tough journeymen Edel Ruiz and Mark Burse and has been demolished by B level fighters); and Roger Medal (not a noteworthy fighter but has a 19-4 record).
So... Smalls is the type of guy that would be a great fight for a prospect like Ben Dunne or Angel Torres.
