brook vs o donnell?
who do u see winning. I think o donnell will be found wanting. why oh why doesnt he keep it long?
Also, what is it McCrackens teaching him about defence? Its a shame cos physically he's perfect for the weight, just what u'd want. With the right coach he could be a proper little tommy hearns.
Brook around the 7th

I might be wrong as I get told quite a few things and find it hard to keep track (and am happy to be corrected) - but I believe the pair have sparred and when the fight was mandated by the Board, O'Donnell chose to go another route.
Make of that what you will.

Re: brook vs o donnell?
Both of the kids have sloppy defences. Brook may have the bigger question mark over his chin than O`Donnel - but he seems to hit alot harder. I`d have to put my money on Kell finding the target pretty quickly.
I also think a new trainer would make more use of what O`Donnel has. McCracken fighters - Barker excluded - are not known for their defences.
Maybe an Ingle to make him more elusive or an Enzo Calzaghe? Calzaghe has/had good form with tall quick guys.

Re: brook vs o donnell?
Before last night I haven't seen much of O'donnell but was really impressed.
I don't really think that O'Donnell's defence is a problem unless he's struggled more in previous fights that I haven't seen. I think if you can fight really well then you don't neccasary need an outstanding defence, look at Froch.
Having said that I think Brook would probably win by a late ish knock out.

Re: brook vs o donnell?
I agree that sometimes a good offence can be your best defence
Sadly,a case for this not being a good option is with Froch :( ... his is really has one of the worst defences of any active world champion I can think of

Re: brook vs o donnell?
Brook will stop him in 6 rounds!
Re: brook vs o donnell?
Shouldn't be a very difficult fight for Brook. O'Donnell was getting hit flush many times last night, and even if his defence is tighter, Brook will still find a way through.
Brook KO.
Brook KO.
Re: brook vs o donnell?
I really rate O'Donnell but Kell is on another level and this would be over within 6 rounds.. O'Donell is not that hard to hit especially for someone as skilled as Brook, If Glover could hit him imagine what Kell would do!!
Re: brook vs o donnell?
Your completely wrong robert mccracken is an excellent trainer..o'donnell trys to be too flashy thats why he gets caught..and do you think mccrcken tells froch to have a defence like that?? not a chance..this would be like brook vs mcintyre all over againtonyevs wrote:Both of the kids have sloppy defences. Re: brook vs o donnell?
O'Donnell wasn't bothered last night because it was apparent that Glover didn't have the fluidity IMO to really crack. He looked mechanical and not very mobile IMO, just done as best as he can with what he has....even when he got close a couple of times he would just pitty pat at O'Donnell's indifferent face.Asterix wrote: O'Donnell was getting hit flush many times last night
it was slightly embarrassing to hear Rawling saying....OH OH, here's good work from Glover....when he hadn't really gotten through with a threatening punch.
I think if O'Donnell hit harder he'd be a complete nightmare, but as it stands, I think Brook would observe the flashiness for a few rounds, and then clean O' Donnell's clock.
I don't think the fight would go 12 rounds.
I'd love to see Brook Khan one day, but I think Brook will always be a weight class above.

lol anybody's chin close around his weight. That said I don't and never have subscribed to the Khan "crap chin" theory. He got caught cold versus Breidis, and in the others he just got up and stopped them all pronto just about. He hasn't got the best chin, that's true, but it's not going to hinder him as much as some would like to imagine.
Re: brook vs o donnell?
o'donnall will not fight brook'he made that clear when he vacated the english title' rather than fight brook. brook needs super league fighters. jennings is a good fight' but that job out of way' then EBU and on to the world.Bomber 1 wrote:I really rate O'Donnell but Kell is on another level and this would be over within 6 rounds.. Brook by Ko withing 4 rounds.
Brook will be at least a European champion while O'Donnell is a domestic journeymen. Hennessey as usual tells his domestic champs that they will be big stars and world champs one day making them delusional!

Re: brook vs o donnell?
Can't see this one happening. If Brook beats Jennings, then I think he will want to move on to world level. Brook has recently stated he feels ready for guys like Cotto which shows his ambition!
If Kell defeats Jennings then let him test the waters at world level, but I'll say right now if he were to be put in with a guy like Cotto he would receive a beating & he's only young so I do hope his handlers make take their time with him!
There's no rush, but ultimately, if Brook ewants to try his luck at world level who are with to deny him that chance?

Re: brook vs o donnell?
Brook will be unheard of State-side so how a shot would be negotiated I don't know. However Jennings got a go.
Brook to me doesn't strike me as the kind of fighter to stand around getting beaten up, at any level. That said, his chin would appear untested at the mo'....so I';d like to at least see him in a couple of challenging encounters before being put into World Class. There's no point dragging something forward and ruining it, that he looks destined to achieve in the slightly longer term anyway.

Re: brook vs o donnell?
Brook is 5'9 and the height issue wont be a factor at all in this fight and he will KO him sometime in the fight.
Re: brook vs o donnell?
Brook will KO o'donnell, the speed is with brook and so's the power i think hes also too skillfull to not be able to work his way inside
Re: brook vs o donnell?
Looking at McCrackens higher profile guys he trains - then you`d have to agree that defence isn`t a strong point. I know Robert is forever telling Froch to tighten up etc .. but a better trainer would have the guy doing it naturally ... look how Roach has got Khan alot tighter.gemmell wrote:Your completely wrong robert mccracken is an excellent trainer..o'donnell trys to be too flashy thats why he gets caught..and do you think mccrcken tells froch to have a defence like that?? not a chance..this would be like brook vs mcintyre all over againtonyevs wrote:Both of the kids have sloppy defences. Re: brook vs o donnell?
O'Donnell could fend him off if he started throwing some straight shots i.e. power but he seems to prefer whipping them in from the sides, albeit probably hard to see coming, and doing that daft crossing his arms thing......I think Brook would eat him alive, unless O'Donnell tried to keep him at bay with some straight shots.brian13 wrote:Brook is 5'9 and the height issue wont be a factor at all in this fight and he will KO him sometime in the fight.
One things for sure it would be one cracking match........in fact I'd venture, probably the most exciting all British contest out there at the moment........well , save for Brook Jenno I should say.
Re: brook vs o donnell?
McCracken can't stop his fighters getting involved in wars and start boxing to their best abilities (unless we're talking when he was training Eastman and getting into a war was the furthest thing from his mind)tonyevs wrote:Looking at McCrackens higher profile guys he trains - then you`d have to agree that defence isn`t a strong point. Froch, Walker, Thirwell, Meager and now O'Donnell. I think McCracken gets a lot of goodwill that isn't all that deserved. Yes Froch has gone a long way but that seems to be mainly because he is one tough bastard than his tactic of blocking punches with his huge nose

Re: brook vs o donnell?
Kell will destroy o'donnell.
You can tell o'donnell wants to piece of kell he never mentioned kell or the british title after the fight.
O'donnel might have got a good reach advantage but those jabs he trow's look like back handed slaps and won't have enough on them to dent kell's defense.
