Team England has done very well, I don't think they've lost a match yet.

Today was my first day watching. Alot of the matches were African vs African, so not many good boxers today. I was most impressed by the German Rene Kraus who easily won his match with fast hands and great technique, and Rasulov of Uzbekistan. I saw him at the Olympics and was impressed by how good his footwork was and today he used it to easily outpoint an Estonian boxer 19-3. Also a point of note is that about half of his points were from body blows, its very refreshing to see them register some points for clean shots to the body, some people might have forgotten but those count too.

I tried to watch the AIBA live feeds past two days and no luck. It just shows a black screen, it does not even load. I saw the broadcast the first two days of the tourney but now it is not working. Anyone able to watch yesterday? If not, do you know any links to live streaming of the tourney?

Magdaleno is tough. He beat '07 world champ Rau'shee Warren in the semi finals of the US Championships on a count back. The bout could have gone either way but Warren was not busy enough.
Tough, but not smart enough! 8)

I thought Jesse Magdaleno didn't get credit for a lot of punches and should have won his bout.

Geez, what's that supposed to mean? Did you even see the fight? Every time an American fighter has lost, Dennis thinks they got screwed, so maybe you should direct that comment towards him...

Has anyone seen any of the Aussie fights? I've only seen the results so far, haven't been able to watch. Interested mostly to hear about Hooper (75kg) and Nieman (91kg)

Go back and read my posts. The only boxer that I thought won clearly and didn't get the decision was Magdaleno. Caferro - I though he should have been given more points and maybe he would have won as it would have affected the course of the bout. I am pro USA but I am not that biased to think all of our guys have won.

Fair enough Dennis. Sorry , I'm not trying to start a war, I just disagree with you (about Magdaleno and Hunter at least), and apparently Kolya thinks I'm biased because of it. I'm not even German, so I have nothing at stake, other than my honest opinion.

I didn't say that I thought Hunter won, I just thought the score should have been closer.

BTW - they solved the problems with the two bells. They are now using a horn in the one ring. A lot less confusion for the boxers and the refs.

My connection kept dropping, but from what I did see, M'Bumba was good and Jordan looked a little tentative though.

Jordan was a little tentative. I thought the bout was a little closer than the score, but Jordan did lose. He is disappointed in his performance and knows he can do better. He is looking forward to boxing him again in the future and feels confident that he will defeat him the next time. He is already talking about winning the gold in 2 years at the Worlds in Korea.

What did I say ... Look out for Torben Keller.. He beat Oscar Molina today and he is off to the quarterfinals where he will fight the German Jack Culcay-Keth.. This is the moment of truth! Come on Torben! Show your guts and make each and everyone in the entire arena feel the IPPO SPIRIT!

Speaking of the welters, Canada's championships went from "pretty much as we expected" (3-4 until this morning) to "wait, what?" with Mikael Zewski's stunning upset of the #1 favorite, Cuba's Carlos Banteur. With a now wide-open upper half of the draw (the bottom half is an absolute nightmare), everything's on the table for Zewski, from a defeat in the quarters to the Ouzbek, to a place in the finals.

Here's hoping Zewski and Keller meet up in the semi final! :D

Yes, and thank you! Now if he can only find a way to beat Culcay (who he's lost to thrice, last time by a mere 11-9), he's in the medals!
