Anderson and Morrison
Anderson and Morrison
What did everyone think of the performances of Anderson and Morrison on the Undercard of yesterday's televised fight.
Personally, I don't think either will win a British title, Anderson is being touted as the talented one of the two but looked very ordinary against a Light Welter with alot of defeats on his record. His defence was poor and he looked short of idea's. I felt sorry for his opponent, as he deserved to here the final bell.
I cannot fault Morrison's last display, but he's looked very poor in the past (against poor opposition). Last Nights opponent was very poor and while he might have geniunally improved, I don't think we can judge it on last nights fight - so I still remain a sceptic.
Any other views.

Anderson showed huge flaws last night. Far, far too offense orientated mindset. If he had been fighting someone more serious he would have been cold-cocked by a counter right in the first 10 seconds of the fight. Defense overall was far too lax. He visibily tired in the 3rd round or so and I'd guess it was because he became demoralised that the guy was still there: "hey, aren't you supposed to be knocked out by now?".
I think he can make British title contention, but I don't think he'll win it and I also think he could also get beat just a notch before that level.
Morrison looked decent with the stoppage but the jury's still out. It's okay looking good against these Eastern European journeymen they bring in, let's see what happens when he faces a young hungry British fighter around his own level.

ive know them both for a whole as am an amature in scoland and so were they both( very succesful ones) they actually fought each other a few times.
Looking at those performances wasnt Andersons best. when you lool at his past performances they are more impressive,, still a novice pro and time to improve.. think they will fight for a commenwealth or britsh title but dont know whats gonna happen...

I rate Kevin Anderson highly. He's a natural puncher who can put you over when trying to and he can knock you senseless when he just lets the punches come natuarally a la the one-two that finally put paid to that very tough frencman in the sixth and final round.
That French guy was seriously fired-up for this one , but I was more impressed by a 21 year old who showed plenty of fire himself when an opponent won't lie down. He's fitness has already benefited from doing two 8x3 mintue rounds and his ability to swtich tactics mid-fight impressed me. So if he can't knock 'em out, he has the skills to outpoint them.
All this in only eleven fights. I'm a supporter for definate. He can and will win a British title. Scottish title first and I'd pick him to topple Kevin McIntyre. The more fights he gets in the meantime will only solidify his chances.
Morrison, by contrast, has a solid dig but I can't see anything beyond a Scottish or Celtic title. Time may prove me wrong.

I remember years ago when Morrison caused which was a major upset at the time by beating Kevin Anderson on points... over 4x2s.KOJOE90 wrote:Interesting, do you have any more information on this?bigped wrote:ive know them both for a whole as am an amature in scoland and so were they both( very succesful ones) they actually fought each other a few times.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT SOME OF YOU GUYS ARE ON ABOUT, I'VE SEEN ALL OF ANDERSONS FIGHTS AND THE BOY HAS PLENTY TALENT! IN THE FIRST ROUND HE THREW
SOME GREAT COMBINATIONS AND THE FRENCH GUY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT HAD HIT HIM, BUT THE GUY WAS A TOUGH HOMBRE SO ANDERSON CHANGED HIS STYLE AND TOOK HIM OUT WITH ONE OF THE BEST PUNCHES I'VE SEEN. CHECK OUT HIS RECORD AND YOU'LL SEE HE'S NOT BEEN TAKING ON THE USUAL JOURNEYMEN, HE'S BEEN FIGHTING PRETTY GOOD QUALITY FOREIGN GUYS, THAT MOST OF THE OTHER SO CALLED PROSPECTS WOULDN'T GO NEAR. YEAH, HE DID TAKE A FEW PUNCHES HE SHOULDN'T HAVE BUT HE'S LEARNING FAST, HE'S VERY QUICK AND HAS BAG OF POWER AND GUTS. ONCE HIS DEFENCE IS 100% HE'LL TAKE ON AND BEAT THE LIKES OF MICHAEL JENNINGS AND DAVID BARNES NO PROBLEM. WATCH THIS SPACE!!
I agree totally when you say he has been fightin a cut above the usual journy men,, he done a 8 rounder in his 5th fight against Mothie and looked good. he has got a lot going for him but was open to punches on sat.. i hope he does do well just need to wait and see. what you think of morrisons chances???b_hammersley wrote:I DON'T KNOW WHAT SOME OF YOU GUYS ARE ON ABOUT, I'VE SEEN ALL OF ANDERSONS FIGHTS AND THE BOY HAS PLENTY TALENT! I think Morrison will do pretty well, he has a good dig and has plenty of experience that other so called prospects don't have. Need to wait and see but I think he has a good chance to make something of himself. Anderson did have a very good win against Mothie, he also had a great win against Bartniki in only his second pro contest. Anderson pulverised the guy inside 2 rounds, which was an incredible feat for a welterweight as Bartniki has been the distance with a fair few middle weight prospects. You guys don't seem to realise is that Anderson has already beaten a fair number of the guys at welterweight already, fair enough it was when he was an amatuer, but still it goes to show he is a cut above these guys. Doherty is another good prospect (11 and 0) but was Ko'd by Anderson inside 2 rounds as an amatuer, as for Gary Young, the guy is pretty good but Anderson took him to the cleaners in every one of their amatuer fights. Give the guy time, even David Barnes wasn't fighting the type of guys Anderson has at the same stage in his career.

Eat him for breakfast
I would love to see it! If he took on Anderson, he would have the fight of his life cause he would be the best that he's faced by far. Granted Jennings has talent but I think once Anderson tightens up his defence he would go through Jennings. Lets not forget that Jennings was hardly magic in is last fight was he, pretty sure that he got dumped on his arse, and if his opponent had been a bit better Jennings would have got pumped that night. Fair enough he's had more fights than Anderson but my granny could have beaten half of those guys, maybe one day we'll find out, hopefully.

Just one more thing to add to the discussion, it's good to have a record of 20 odd wins and no losses (Jennings) but check his record, he's fought a fair few guys a couple of times each, it's easy to look good against guys you've already beaten. Anderson didn't tire in the third as one of you guys suggest, he just changed his tactics and used his boxing skills before taking the guy out at the end. Everyone gets hit in boxing, so to suggest his defence "is all over the place" is a joke. Anderson would catch Jennings, and when he does, he'll finish him, unlike his last opponent. I rest my case your Honour!
Mr Hammersley, surely your a tad concerned that Anderson is getting hit at the level he is fighting it. Yes, people get hit but the ones who succeed to take many shots at this lowley level.b_hammersley wrote:Just one more thing to add to the discussion, it's good to have a record of 20 odd wins and no losses (Jennings) but check his record, he's fought a fair few guys a couple of times each, it's easy to look good against guys you've already beaten. Jennings, whilst he has had alot of rematches has still fought better opposition than Anderson. Jon Honney is as good (probably better) than all of Anderson's opponents but he hardly laid a glove on Jennings.

No mate, I'm not concerned that he's taking punches, only trying to get my point over that people get hit in boxing, and that Anderson will learn from every fight. But you argument kind of falls flat on it's butt, I don't think Jennings had ever fought Jon Honney, and even if the record is wrong how can Honney be better than any of Anderson opponents when he has a record of 7 wins and 12 losses??? He was even beaten by a good wee scottish lightweight called Martin Watson (ko'd in 3 rounds) , Somehow I think your wrong on this one.
Yes, you got me there - it was Nigel Wright I was thinking off.b_hammersley wrote:No mate, I'm not concerned that he's taking punches, only trying to get my point over that people get hit in boxing, and that Anderson will learn from every fight. Can't argue against that only that Martin Watson is more than just a bit good, he can mix it with best in the country. However, you beaten me hands down with that argument.
Still think Jennings will go futher, but that is just my belief - I have nothing to back that up with (because it will get shot down in flames).
Thanks for setting me straight
