Warren will sell it and sell it well in my opinion.
Salita is 30-0 with 16 ko's. The general football or sports fan will lap it up. Sky will present him as an udefeated yank dangerman.
Its the right fight for Khan. What a job Warren has done for him. Fantastic.
Yes I suppose from a purely hype point of view there is a fair bit to go at:
- UK vs USA angle
- the 'human interest' story of Salita's Jewish heritage (harking back to Benny Leonard and the great Jewish fighters of old)
- the unbeaten slate
etc etc
Still, for anyone who follows the sport it is a $hitty excuse of a fight and certainly not one worth anything like PPV money.
Mandatory or not, Salita is slow of both hand and foot with mechanical, forced, punching technique and little in the way of genuine power. His padded record just reinforces to me that he is a sham mandatory.
I know boxing promoters have to regularly make a silk purse out of a sow's ear but I just can't get excited about a match like this.
I won't be buying tickets or the PPV, that is for sure!
