very good quality and very good fighters...
it's great when the film from some of these old fights is perfect, when so much of it isn't, therefore assessing becomes hard for some. I always rate and judge poor quality film against the ones like this one where it shows accurately the prowess of the fighters and satisfies with the knowledge that IF it's top fighters your watching even though the film is shit, well believe it they ARE the real deal, as proved by the likes of this footage where they get it right.

there's an excellent one of Lynch destroying Jackie Brown and theres an even old one of Canzoneri against Frankie Glick (I think) that are just excellent and shows the true worth of these fighters from these eras. Just great when they get it right, it's a shame there isn't more of them.

always in top shape, always willing fighters and busy talented lads, especially at in fighting... mind you the competition and busy fight schedules demanded it if you wanted to get to the top.

Nice post, Jim.

At that point in time Vic Toweel was a terrific fighter. It is so much fun to watch guys that size when they are that good. Toweel was an excellent boxer, he had a talented left hand (Ortiz kept getting clipped with Toweel's left hook), a great chin, and a great variety of punches. And in that fight Toweel beat a champion who was much more experienced than he was.

I'm the uploader of that vid. Here's Part 2 of that highlight segment, which shows the end of the fight:
