mike holden- ready for prizefighter?
Re: mike holden- ready for prizefighter?
When will it get annouced about Holden?
Re: mike holden- ready for prizefighter?
Let's see some form of consistency with the likes of the BBBofC and the Commonwealth council, who basically overlap.
If Tom Glover wasn't worthy of a shot at the commonwealth title after some of the lamentable Africans that get approval, Holden is not good enough to compete in Prizefighter after years out of the game and scrapping a draw against a serial loser.
This should be an easy decision for the board. No offence to Holden who was a decent pro in his day, but it's not right for the board to allow him to compete.

But it was for Bruce Scott?
Re: mike holden- ready for prizefighter?
If Holden had won it would have been ok but he looked sluggish. Also Belshaw should be removed!
Re: mike holden- ready for prizefighter?
Bruce Scott!? Prizefighter is starting to turn into a circus.
Re: mike holden- ready for prizefighter?
Buce Scott was in the cruiserrweight version!

What did he 'blurt out' ? I haven't seen fight yet but curious about this comment

Well if they get rid of Holden , then surely they'd have to pull out Scott Belshaw as well, he was KO'd in 2 in his last fight, and looked completly out of his depth, and that was against a 7 fight boxer.

Sorry Zzutak,I would not degrade Mike holden by repeating his comments.lets just say he was 'not of clear mind'!zzutak wrote:standing8 wrote:Sadly,I was sat ringside,Mike was all over the place and should have been stopped, what he blurtted out, would have been enough for me to wave it off!

Its almost ghoulish, the way Holden's body is being served up here for the slaughter.
Serious questions need to be asked of Sky and the BBFC.

It's only a 3 rounder, he will be okay to look after himself, he deserves a break and a few quid over what happened with his Brit titleoverhand_right wrote:Its almost ghoulish, the way Holden's body is being served up here for the slaughter.

Fair enough I can respect that Standing. Have to say that I met Mike some years ago at a gym in Manchester when I was still 'fighting' (it was about the time when he had scored back to back one rounders over prospects Lindblad and Ajose) and I found him one of the nicest blokes you could wish to meet, no ego or arrogance and only too happy to give advice and encouragment to me and a couple of mates, so as you say his outburst was out of characterstanding8 wrote:Sorry Zzutak,I would not degrade Mike holden by repeating his comments.lets just say he was 'not of clear mind'!zzutak wrote:standing8 wrote:Sadly,I was sat ringside,Mike was all over the place and should have been stopped, what he blurtted out, would have been enough for me to wave it off!

Re: mike holden- ready for prizefighter?
Agree with that. He's not going to be any worse than Dave Ingleby, say - and I don't mean that as disrespect to Ingleby. The point is, we've had a couple of bona fide journeymen in Prizefighters; guys who may also have only gotten a draw against the guy Holden fought. Of course the evidence points to a heavy defeat for Holden, but again, even if he's journeyman standard now, there have been worse ones. It's just that he was once a champion that makes people notice his decline.Coco wrote:It's only a 3 rounder, he will be okay to look after himself, he deserves a break and a few quid over what happened with his Brit titleoverhand_right wrote:Its almost ghoulish, the way Holden's body is being served up here for the slaughter.

Re: mike holden- ready for prizefighter?
Not sure I agree. Just because he may lack Holden's (past) pedigree, Ingleby was active and in form at the time.
Holden seems to have slipped terribly and whilst Sprott, Williams and Harrison are habitual dissapointments they clump a damn sight harder than that import who very nearly stopped Mike.

Re: mike holden- ready for prizefighter?
we ve had bessey in....morgan in... simkin in...dunstan in ...ovil macenzie won as a rank outsider/replacement
you dont get barred from prizefighter for losing your last fight or being a bit 'portly'
certainly mark krence...ervis jegeni...carl baker and larry o would have been nice
but i dont see why Holden cant do something if Luke simkin was able to get to a semi
if the tyson fury knockers want to moan....moan about belshaw not holden...at least holden has the experience

Re: mike holden- ready for prizefighter?
I think you miss the point - not surprising given you write like you're mentally disabled.
Holden has deteriorated shockingly - you have to wonder what kind of damage has occured within for him to have regressed to such a state. The mam is dangerously shot & runs the risk of Sprottt, Harrison and Williams teeing off on his dilapidated remnants. God only knows whayt further damage might be inflicted?
He's not a career long loser like the other boys you mention, he's a guy who has SEVERELY slipped.

Re: mike holden- ready for prizefighter?
we are all forgetting ibbs... he made billy bessey look like SRCJJ - LL - JL - JD - PBF - Mp - etc etc
Re: mike holden- ready for prizefighter?
To be fair, we've had the current #2 in a devision in a prizefighter tournament (Oakey), Ted Bami was well respected, and the cruiserweight devision one did have some respected active fighters (Francis, Steeds had just fought for the British title) - that one contained Bruce Scott who hadn't fought once in like 4 years. .

I'm not knocking Prizefighter.
You clearly can't read or write.
